We are delighted to announce that Eric Dier has signed a new contract with the Club which will run until 2024. Eric has been with the Club for six years having joined from Sporting Lisbon in July, 2014 and enjoyed a memorable debut with a last-minute winning goal on the opening day of the 2014/15 season at West Ham United.

Is that really the only "memorable" thing about him....apart from his appendectomy and the seat hurdling escapade?

Good. Finally being played in his correct position and knows the club inside out.

Having players around who have been through the wringer with the club and the ups and downs is important.

Just wish he had a foreign sounding name so he was given more credit

There was a report about him asking for over 100k per week. Probably bs newspaper talk but I wonder what his salary is compared to our other players.

The piece I read said £120k pw stating Dier wanted to double his £60k pw wages. Obviously no idea if true but if so then he and his agent have done pretty well. I’m glad he’s staying even though I don’t massively rate him (though I think he’s decent) as he’s one of the few leaders we have in the squad.

Good. He is a versatile player that a cheap squad like us can us. He is good depth at CB but also a good fill in at RB or defensive midfield if needed.

Thought he was done a few months ago but he's come back very well from illness and injury. Last few games he's played he looked fit and healthy and had energy and decent pace. I wouldn't have batted an eyelid if we'd sold him last year but now I'm glad he's signed a new deal. He's the type of character we need around and I'm sure he'll be wanting his England jersey back too.

Dier, Skipp, Toby - Levy seems to be backing Jose’s judgement. And the players seem to be buying into the Jose story.

Thing seem to be heading on the right track.

A couple of astute signings and we will be on the up and up. The future looks bright, the future looks lillywhite

That piece was only a week or so ago too.

Not sure anyone could double their money with Levy in such a short space of time!!
Just a journalist being a prick and trying to stir up trouble.

I'd have given him a lifetime contact for clattering Fabregas and Hazard in the battle of the bridge.
