Going to be a lot of penalty retakes next season. Increased use of the pitchside monitors has got to improve things then at least the on-field ref is making the decisions.

Curious - you can't place a body part of the floor whilst the penalty is being taken...

What if you get a run up and jump into the box, matching the run of the penalty taker so that you land as the ball is kicked...

?

I don’t get what difference it makes if goalkeeper has foot or leg over the line as long as it’s not until ball is kicked by the penalty taker?

I like them telling refs to check the monitors more as they can’t be fully trusted with penalties, red cards, etc.

"Assistant referees have also been ordered to keep their flags down for marginal offside calls, which will be reviewed by VAR when a goal is scored."

Correct call, but it does make a lino's job fucking simple. That's literally the only semi-difficult decisions they had to make.

Do you see our arrogant referees over ruling themselves they are never going to admit to a mistake this is just lip service to their decisions .

If they don't when it's an obvious decision to reverse then they'll look even worse.

In going to watch football for 70 years I am struggling to remember a linesman letting the ref know they have missed some serious foul play .
Another thing I have noticed is that when a throw on is in dispute I am sure that the ref tells the linesman what way to give the throw on its as if they are in radio contact and are telling them what team to give the throw on to .
VAR still have not done anything about offside decisions that take ages for me if the decision cannot be made after 5 seconds after drawing their lines goals scored should stand and get on with the game . We come to see the football not the technology taking 2 or 3 minutes to make a ruling . It is either that or when the lines are so close as a clear gap cannot be seen the goal must stand .

Apparently they're getting a pay cut too.

They aren't going to do anything serious about this until people start voting with their feet and their TV subscriptions.

So, in essence, nothing is really going to change. The refs will remain inept, we'll have the same delays, the same spurious calls and we'll watch the game we love die by inches.

The thing is, there's really nothing wrong with VAR in principle, it's the shocking use of it that will kill the game because the powers that be are both inept and corrupt in equal measure.

The only hope is they get called up to use the bloody pitch side monitors more and see what a fucking mess they've made and correct it. Unless they've given a pen to Manure, of course.
