That's obviously a down side, however I do think our players would be able to nip that in the bud and make him more humble.

He's a little bit arrogant but I think we are lacking some self confidence at times. Like Jose said, we're a little too nice.

For example, Cantwell taking kick ups before his penalty, we need A bit of that.

On the technique side, I've become more aware that a midfield of Lo Celso, Ndombele, Winks & Hoejbjerg isn't going to cut it. We need another option and if the club are indeed sniffing around we'd not do much better in this climate.

Think we'd have a mixture of everything then.

We need either an Eriksen replacement or we shift system and play a DM and two box to box central midfielders. Cantwell’s an attacking midfielder but his stats (goals and assists) is nothing to write home about. The role we would want him to fill is vital to our success and he’s nowhere near ready. Given a choice between Cantwell and Coutinho the latter would be 1st choice every time. You know what you’re getting with someone like Coutinho whereas Cantwell is similar to Sessegnon in that he’s promising but definitely not ready to develop into the finished article. Cantwell also reminds me of when Bale used to be more concerned with his hair than how well he performed on the pitch. If we’re wanting a young prospect then Eze is the way to go.

The problem is Villa will be demanding 50m minimum.

We won't be spending more than 30m on any individual this summer.

ITK didn’t rule this out... they said we would need to spread the cost over the duration of the contract.

Can't disagree with anything you say to be honest.

Coutinho on loan would be ideal.

Just not convinced the club will spend big so setting my expectations.

Not sure we do.
You laugh mate but scouts look at that as it shows a confident and relaxed manner.

How many penalty shoot outs or big moments have we won lately? We need more confident players.

Not saying Cantwell is the best out there but he's young, he can get better, he can be better in a better team and he can mature. He'd also be working with an elite coach.

There's a Q? mark over Coutinho.

Liverpool happy to let him go.
Barca don't want him.
Bayern didn't want him.

Hmmn.

Well Liverpool actually didn't want him to go. Klopp said they tried everything.

I think at Barca they expected him to take over the Iniesta role but hes not that kind of player. He needs to play high up the pitch not be all over the place linking play

Not sure what happened at Bayern

All jokes aside, Ali Gold reckons Cantwell is on our radar.

That would be a very similar style player and would compliment Lo Celso very well.

Can't see us being in for Zaniolo in this market. Roma would be asking for 30m +
I mentioned Cantwell after Norwich played Liverpool first game of the season where they lost 3 or 4-0. The score flattered Liverpool and Cantwell impressed me. I said I thought he was one to watch out for this season and he was been decent. I certainly wouldn't be against this type of signing.

Mate Henderson did that before a penalty in the 2018 World Cup and nearly got England knocked out. It might be nerves as much as anything else.

At Bayern, Coutinho was always seen as a stop gap - they wanted Sane last season but couldnt get him -so they agreed to sign Coutinho on loan. After signing they didnt play to his strenghts. Played him in left wing mostly - he needed play the central role. Now Sane is signed means Coutinho again becomes not required.

Its not like he had a bad season from stats point of view - He scored 8 and assisted 6 in 23 League games. Thats pretty good even for Bundesliga

IMO, if he is available & willing to come, we got to get him. I really dont want us to risk everything on Ndombele. If he has another bad season and having to be carried by others, it will be disastrous for us.

Countino - Hojbjerg - Lo Celso could work better than Ndombele - Hojbjerg - Lo Celso IMO.

But just look at him now, Henderson is officially the world's best footballer or something. I get easily confused.

Fit and firing Ndombele is a better player than Coutinho, IMO.

He certainly still has a better work rate than Coutinho, which seems to be his detractors’ main issue with him.

I’d imagine if we actually got him in he’d be viewed as a option on the wing or in attacking midfield.

They loaned out perisic last season because they didn't get sane .... Coutinho was more like replacement of james rodriguez
