I'm not renewing my ST so have been trying to work out how I can watch as many games as possible on TV in the future. I'm leaning towards NowTV, assuming I can pick up the necessary Sky, BT and now Amazon bits (FFS - competition is supposed to improve things for the consumer! Yeah, right). Anyone know if this is viable?
If things stay as they normally are, that’ll get you the most possible games you can get through official TV methods. You’d still miss a fair few games if you just stick to that alone though.

Yeah, obviously I'm not going to see all 19 home league games as with my ST. I might see close to that in total across the season though, along with all European games I would imagine. Do you have NowTV yourself?

Yeah, you’ll get every European game and probably will get close to the 19 live matches I’d imagine.
I’ve never had it, my brother in law had it for a time though and he seemed ok with the amount of sport he was able to get on it.

I had a NowTV pass for the season. It's a cheap way of getting Sky Sports. It doesn't include any of the games on BT or Amazon though so you won't get the European games. O

I’ve got sky sports and movies (discounted). I’ve also got BT broadband, so I can get the BT sport app on my iPad for free. I just connect it to my tv to watch their games. Picture quality is not the best on a big screen, but for free you can’t grumble.

In fear of sounding all Corbyn-esque, this needs to be democratised. Honest and hard work people owns the right to watch their team defeat Arsenal win.
In fear of sound all Boris, we must take back control over the virtual borders around the basic right for all free men to watch some fekking footie.

Its pure stupidity!

I can fully understand if the premier league are going release additional packages to bid on so all games can be covered but they aren't going to do this. From what I understand its because the broadcasters are saying it will devalue the deal they already have in place. Maybe im being really stupid but I don't understand that argument.

Amazed in the current climate they're denying clubs revenue for games that aren't televised.
And it's amazing that the UK audience is stuck with literally the worst deal when it comes to the TV rights of it's own domestic league.

No televised 3pm game when you can watch at least one if not all of them most other places in the world (and all can be streamed illegally anyway).
Multiple host broadcasters so you have to pay for multiple subscriptions to watch all games.

It's a bit shit.

Seems as though you can now get the BT Sport app on NowTV and can sign up for £25 p/m, contract free. I think this is probably the route I'll go down.

I have found it strange that football hasn't moved with the time and followed say the nfl game pass type approach.

A bit like the amazon offering. The money that the pl and clubs would make would be astronomical compared to what theyre making through sky and bt etc

Hopefully the first couple of rounds of matches will all be shown live.

There will be no supporters anyway and you would image the TV companies will appreciate the extra chance to sell ads.

Of course, it won't happen.

Braced for disappointment tomorrow morning at 09:00

It is bizarre. They complain about people streaming the games but the vast majority of those people would be happy to watch it through a more legitimate source but they don't have even the option to do that. They're just forcing people into the illegal streams themselves.

exactly, and with no fans at games until at least the end of 2020 and probably only 25% of our games being broadcast legally in UK what other option do us fans have to watch our team.

I've just renewed my IPTV subscription for another 12 months and looks like I'll be making good use of it this season.

If you are on EE you get BT included in my contract, this is only on your phone however. If you want to use the BT app on TVs it's an extra £8pm I think it's worth it.

It's annoying they cottoned on to be able to make even more money by restricting casting from app to TV with yet another charge.

There isn’t really competition though, there’s three different monopolies. If Sky, Amazon, and BT were all selling the same package of games, the consumer could choose which channel to pay for. As it is, if you want to see all the games, you have to pay for all three. There’s no incentive for Sky, or BT to improve their coverage, or to offer competitive pricing because they know chumps like us will still sign up to both of them.
Maybe its just me but I don't think the £10 BT charge for their sports is that bad a deal and they have a very good app. Ipad/Apple Tv/Xbox and Amazon games are free with prime which works out to 7-8 pound per month I don't see how what BT and Amazon offer could be any cheaper.

Sky Sports bundle is more broad I don't know what it costs by itself [25-30] a month? Is still not expensive. If they got rid of recordings and just made an app for live viewing then they could rid of the dishes and boxes then they could probably bring the price down.

100% this, they complain about illegal streams yet do not offer a legal alternative, dodgy streams will literally be the only way to watch the majority of games this season.

I have loved the football being on at 6pm and during the week, maybe says more about my life at the moment... but its clear theyve been able to do this because no fans are allowed so its not an inconvenience.

i do think there should be a streaming service like Netflix. Simon Jordan who loves the sound of his own voice bought this up a few weeks ago on Talksport. PL own the product, they dont need to create a product to sell, so why not just strean it for a tenner a month, im sure that would generate more revenue than Sky and BT Sport etc.

Will be interesting to see going forward
the business model isn't about giving consumers a good deal it's to make as much money as possible and right now selling the games as packages in the UK and abroad generates far more money. Even if they sold 10m subs at @£10 it would generate far less money than what they can do at the moment

And if the clubs started selling stream services I don't think it will be £10 p/m more like 25-30

10m? And the rest! It's currently broadcast to over 600 million homes and has an estimated TV audience of 4.7 billion!
