I remember some people saying Kane was the new Lee Barnard.

I guess there's still time...
I remember thinking it when he was being loaned out a lot, I can't say if I ever shared those thoughts on here or not. I blame the cider.

The one lad I used to think would make it was Mark Yeates, I used to watch him regularly when the reserves played at Stevenage on a Monday night, I really thought he'd step up. He got a chance in the FA Cup against Chelsea, I'd already told my Chelsea supporting mate to watch out for him, Yeates hit the post, an inch the other way and things could have been a lot different if that had gone in.

One lad I never thought would make a Premiership player who's proved me wrong is Charle Daniels, played alongside Yeates in the reserves so I saw a lot of him, I'm pleased for him though.

Speaking of players whose career could have gone another route, does anyone remember Gregor Raziak? Scored on his debut for us from a corner but the ball was judged to have swung behind the byline and then back into play so it didn't count. Sometimes it's those little things that can launch or destroy a career.

When Frank Arnesen was at Spurs we had a couple of strikers on trial, one of them, I can't remember which one, was a big powerful lump but didn't possess a lot of skill, I saw someone use these words to describe him- "He can trap a ball further than I can kick it". Sounds a bit like Sissoko to be honest.

Do not diss Miller. Bona-fide legend. FA & Uefa cup winner and sent off at the Goldstone ground in 2nd division year during a 3-1 loss.
Unless you're referring to some other Paul Miller.
Then I apologise.

Actually I just noticed he's moret than 200 games for Spurs  I remember him as a very young CB full of promise who never lived up to his early, well, promise...

David Limbersky. BMJ waxed lyrical about him when we signed him. Don't think he ever played.

Milenko Acimovic too.

And Jamie Slabber.

I remember thinking that when we signed Michael Brown on New Years Day 2004, in true Liverpudlian style, it was going to be our year. Obviously I was hung over and didn’t get laid the night before.

I went to the old Goldstone ground to watch a pre season friendly the year we signed Klinsmann, Dumitrescu and Popescu, expecting to see these stars of that summer's World Cup line up for Spurs, imagine my dismay when we fielded John Hendry and Paul Mahorn upfront instead. Sad times.

There have been some quite randomly obscure players, but the Arnesen led era sticks out largely due to his scattergun approach. Credited with finding Ronaldo (the Brazilian one), his MO was, sign as many young foreign players as possible and hope one turns out ok.

John Moncur. Played 24 times but don't remember much about him as a player. Went on to be the head of youth development for the club and I had a chat to him about some big 15 year old that had just broken into the Derby side after a few people were raving about him. He told me the club were well aware of him.

Rebrov. I remember one goal against Fulham in the cup, but for 60 games I don't remember much else. Still waiting for him to come good.

I had the 94/95 season poster on my bedroom wall for about 5 years looking at it and thinking Klinsmann, Sheringham, Popescu, Mabbutt, Anderton and Barmby would guide us to the league.

But now I reflect and all I can see is John Hendry, Chris Day and David Kerslake staring back at me and I still to this day have no idea what position they played or can ever recall watching them. I remember Nethercott, Austin etc mostly because they were utterly useless.

We had some absolutely disgusting players throughout the entire 90s. Makes me wonder what standard some of them would play at now.

Well Chris Day is or was playing in goal for Stevenage untill recently. Not even sure he played a game for us. Was Hendry a striker from our youth team and Kerslake a right back? But yes not stand out players. Can only assume they weren't that good. Much like Tuttle who has been mentioned.
