OTD .. The FA Cup Final. Tottenham 1-1 QPR

Not the greatest of games to be honest.

It was my 4th Wembley trip in slightly over 12 months. The previous occasions being the 1981 final and replay then the Milk Cup v Liverpool. I didn't go to the Charity Shield match vs Aston Villa as I was off to a mates wedding.

We needed to win something - Cup holders from 1981 we had lost the Milk Cup earlier to Liverpool, our first ever defeat in a Wembley final, we also lost in the semi final of the ECWC after some serious filthing by Barcelona who went in to win. We finished 4th in the league - the old first division. I probably only missed 5 or 6 matches throughout that campaign

It wasn't a great game, I think rather perversely, that seeing Clive Allen hobble off the pitch was one of the best things that could have happened. He was some goal poacher before we landed him.

It's pretty good for me to see these May dates accumulating .. For a team that has won nothing there are a lot of trophies being won.

Hopefully June 1st will be the best ever.

I said it before elsewhere that I was glad that Clive Allen got injured during the Saturday game and didn't
make the replay.

Mauricio Pochettino was appointed.
