What nonsense. If you expect a club to move forward without getting your prime targets you will just stand still especially when you buy players that ain't better than what you already have .
So this summer our main targets are Dybala, Odengaard and three world class defenders. Barcelona, Real Madrid and other top clubs come in for them and they choose these clubs ahead of us.

Do we then then buy no one or move onto other targets? Or in your world do we simply get these targets despite reality?

You realise every club in existence on their prime or no1 targets:

Real missed out on Pogba
Man Utd missed out on De Ligt
Juve missed out on Lukaku
Barcelona missed out on Neymar
Man City missed out on Maguire

It's not realistic.
That's correct it's not always possible we get that...but not everyone time. There comes a point you wait for your prime targets. Liverpool are the example on this.

Liverpool, the same team who missed out on Fekir last summer?

Anyway we got our prime targets this summer...I really don't understand the point of this debate?

Right, now we have the stadium built and some extra money to spend, it appears we are doing just that no?

I can only think of one instance where that's happened to us William. It's not out of the universe to get your main targets with better planning... Yes at times you have no choice but to make reassessments and sometimes you just might have to await, if that second or third options ain't better than what you have. It's not rocket science

So you agree that getting your top targets isn’t that simple?

Did they? or did he fail a medical... Please.

The point of this debate is for Levy to back the manger and push the boat out.

And as I keep saying Poch got all his preferred targets this summer so what are you talking about?

That's good...Unfortunately most have been injured or loaned out.

All I'm saying without getting up tight or not being reasonable, we need further investment now and that's very clear, let's hope Levy comes good and delivers... No waiting time like we did with Grealish for example

Which he is, but this doesn't mean we can simply buy whoever he wants.
Yeah. Messi Ronaldo out of the question. Anyway I believe Pochettinho is pretty reasonable with his demands eg Ndombele Lo Celso we can get such players and Levy did well for once.

All I’ll say to that question is to get your preferred/ top targets requires extensive checks with agents and financial backing/negotiations .

He's being tenuously linked to Man Utd, but I cannot fathom how we are expecting to get the right players in without someone like this:

I thought that Steve Hitchen was going to turn out to be taking this sort of role on, so either we're not hearing about it, or it's not happening.

The only issue is that it potentially goes against the "Back the Manager" and "Get who Poch wants" shtick somewhat. I can't really see how the 'Sporting Director' thing works in conjunction with the 'Manager' role - it seems like a paradox, unless they both sing from the same hymn sheet.

I think we need it, though.

New GK
Gazzaniga
New RB
Walker-Peters
New CB
New CB
Sanchez
Foyth
Sessegnon
Davies
New DM
Skipp
Winks
Sissoko
Ndombele
New CM
New AM
Dele
Lo Celso
Son
Lucas
Clarke
Kane
New FWD
Parrott

In a 25 man squad, 8 new signings for us to get anywhere near the immediate quality required to have weight in the league as well as longneck term growth with youth through it to build on.

If we can move Lloris (too many mistakes, I've lost faith in him), Aurier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Wanyama, Eriksen & Lamela away from the club over the next season or two, there's probably £100m-£120m worth of player if Wembley can get decent deals away from ones inevitably leaving on a free at could get reinvested.

It's tough but I make that at least 17 players currently at the club we can grow around still and whilst we do as well as bed new ones in we can still field a starting XI that looks like:

Gazzaniga, Walker-Peters, Foyth, Sanchez, Sessegnon, Winks, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Dele, Son, Kane

I know it isn't the strongest looking Spurs XI but it's extremely young and has scope to get better, be it with individual players getting better or through wise investment. Poch needs to get his defensive signings right, the attacking players have just about enough to keep us in the mix a squad long as they perform consistently and find suitable form throughout a season.

I don't think we need quite as many as that. Definitely one very experienced CB to lead the back line is required alongside a top RB (either established or up and coming talent). I'm not sure about needing a DM, only because some systems don't require it. I think with N'Dombele, Winks, GLC, Sissoko and Dele we are stocked in CM and would only buy one if we got rid of Sissoko.

I think we probably need one good attacking player to mix in with Son, Lucas and Kane. Parrott is young and shouldn't be relied upon for anything more than cup competitions and odd minutes in games already one or not meaning anything.

We are an absolute laughing stock. The players we have are talented. You don't become shit overnight, or even in 6 months. Give it to Mourinho with a massive bonus if he makes the CL and the promise to spend big next summer
jose is a joke if you like him so much go somewhere else he should be nowhere near spurs
