How does Edouard compare to this bloke?

Different style of striker, but equally as exciting. Edouard is strong, great with the ball at his feet, can drop back and play link up, really good first touch and can finish with both feet with really good composure.

He's not as explosive an athlete as Daka, but has good pace and can play off the shoulder. He would definitely be able to play alongside Kane too, because they could switch dropping back and creating space for the other.

Also, we all got really excited about Daka putting up massive numbers in his league, last season Edouard had 21 Goals and 12 Assists in the SPL last year (27 and 19 across all competitions!). He's basically really polished, a fantastic finisher and would be a very good, potentially excellent signing.

That and Celtic players who are good generally have turned out very well in the PL

I've never seen Edouard play. I couldn't even tell you what channel Scottish football is on.

Edouard is exaclty the player I want us to sign - ceiling is phenomenal and is probably Celtic’s best player since Larsson, Celtic need the money, would probably cost 25mil

I thought Deeney’s first name was Troy not Edouard? Learn something new every day I suppose.

Yep. I posted about him in the scouting thread earlier this year. Tierney left them for Arsenal for £25m last summer, if he leaves it won't be for that much more than that and if it is it will be a scottish record transfer fee.

I imagine the Disney channel given how Mickey Mouse the league is.

Given half the forum seem to regularly watch Bournemouth, Brentford, Celtic and Austrian League, I think it's most likely we've got lots of subscribers to the Fantasy Channel!

Jose in today's press conference:

"They are what they are, they do what they do. To be honest also, I’m so happy with the squad I have. That fact that we managed to improve it with Joe, Doherty and Hojbjerg makes me even happier with the squad that we have, but doing little final touch that I believe we’re going to do, I’d be more than happy to face the season, even the non-human month we have ahead of us. I'm optimistic."

Sounds promising. Also hopefully implies that we'll be bringing in someone sooner rather than later as we could seriously do with having another body up top this month of all months.

Don’t understand all this hush hush under the radar nonsense. Any player agent worth their salt would be whoring their player around. They’d be trying to get the best price and best wages for their client.

In my experience of following the transfer news the “mystery player” almost never actually exists.

I guess another positive point with the Celtic player is that he wouldn't need to quarantine if he joined. Not sure if that would be the case with players joining from outside the UK.

Maybe the player wants to join us and is happy with the wages they've been offered. We do pay pretty decent wages.

I'm not going to believe we've found a better prospect ability wise until I hear the name.

The only other alternatives I can think of, but probably just as expensive as Daka, would be Malen (PSV), Edouard (Celtic).

My guess is it'll be that Rafael Leao from Milan. Portuguese, 21 years old, 6ft 2 and pretty sure Mendes is his agent.

He certainly isn't bad, not as big of a prospect as someone like Daka though - but he'd probably be affordable.

Only slight problem with this shout, is I can't tell if he's more of a winger these days or striker that likes to drift wide.

...also showcases excellent injury picking-up ability

... Did you do this?

He also said

"I want, I need a striker, but I want to make it very, very clear that the club knows that I need a striker and they also want a striker,"

"Are we going to get one? I believe so, I honestly believe so. The team needs it for the balance of the squad."

Call me wildly optimistic, but I find it hard to believe that Jose would be so direct and show his cards if we weren't reasonably down the line on something.
