I actually would like this but it won't happen not unless they want some thing from us

If he's not wanted then I'm not sure they'll necessarily want anything in return, they've been spending a lot of cash and could probably do with some cash coming back in. Not that I think we would pay 80-100m for him

If Zaha is being touted around for 70-100m I think I'd prefer to put in a little extra and go for Coutinho

Don't see it happening BUT this would be the perfect Eriksen replacement. He's got a great shot, excellent passer, prem experience, and would boil levels of piss.

Tim Vickery is my favourite pundit and I imagine he felt that the player and the club would be a good fit in terms of style and personality rather than a realistic transfer target. I heard him compare Coutinho's character to Lucas' the other day and how he felt that Coutinho was a bit too timid to be a huge star at a mega club like Barca. He probably thinks Coutinho would benefit from a move to a more welcoming club like Spurs where the pressure isn't so high and he could flourish just as Lucas, who is also a notoriously shy character, has done.

There's no way we're paying whatever Barca are asking, or shelling out £240,000 a week, so obviously it's a non-starter in real terms.

Is it any less of a link than any hack stating we may have intrest (without quotes) in any player?
No, because this obsession with 'quotes' is nonsense. Are you expecting Daniel Levy to give an interview with the Telegraph explaining our transfer plans? All journalists use sources - many are shit, some are good. ITKs never have quotes either.

Expect this to get locked soon, but Poch did manage Coutinho at Espanyol. Wouldn’t surprise me if we were keeping an eye on developments with him in the event that Eriksen leaves for big money.

Half of the stories are complet nonsense so what does it matter? JJ regularly pops into threads saying there's nothing in it, so what sources are ALL the journalists using?

Fam this isn't even a story. This is Tim Vickery just stating that Coutinho knows Poch.

I believe that Vickery is reasonably respected/connected in South America, if he wasn't mentioned in article and it was just a "source" would that make you feel better?

No, because Coutinho knowing Pochettino is a statement of fact.
