Yes, that's right my friends. My man-crush is finally 'linked' back with us. Unfortunately, Man United are as well, but I'll ignore that.

ALL YOUR AUBAMEYANG ARE BELONG TO US!

Pictures for proof that he is indeed superhuman.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have both joined the hunt for Gabonese international striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reportsThe Sun.

Aubameyang currently plies his trade in France with Saint-Étienne where he is setting Ligue Un alight, leading to reported interest from English clubs.

Aubameyang’s overall goal scoring record for his club is respectable, scoring almost 0.5 goals per game, and this scintillating form has transferred into this season as he has struck eight times already – helping his club to 4th in Ligue 1.

Aubameyang, who’s father also represented Gabon at international level, endured a torrid spell at AC Milan before going on various relatively unsuccessful loans to French clubs – but seems to have really found his feet at Saint-Étienne.
The forward is renowned for his blistering pace, sharp finishing… and warming up for his club’s game against Lyon in boots encrusted with £2,500 worth of Swarovski crystals.

Aubameyang is contracted in France until 2016, leaving Saint-Étienne under no pressure to sell their star asset. Saint-Étienne will be extremely keen to hold onto Aubameyang, having lost Dimitri Payet to Lille in 2011 – so a hefty bid would be required from either English side to prise the striker away from Ligue 1.

Not that its definitive, but I was watching the Ligue 1 round up on ESPN yesterday. The St Etienne manager was being interviewed and categorically stated that PEA would not be moving in the winter. He cited assurances from the chairman, and also from the player himself saying something along the lines of ' I know the player well, and his family well, and there is no chance that he will be leaving this winter' or words to that effect.

Read into that what you will, however.

Wouldn't mind bringing this chap in, looks a prospect.

Only issue is he is African... I don't mean that in a John Terry sort of way, I just mean I hate it when players disappear for January/February down to the ACN.... drives me mental, in fact!

Gabon was actually ousted from the competition via our boy Adeabayor's Togo. So, he won't be going to the ACON.

He won't be going next year as Ade's Togo knocked out Gabon in the last qualifying round.

Yeah, he might not be going this time - but there's always next time, and the time after that!

I know we shouldn't rule out African players based on this, but it drives me mental that it's organised in the middle of a season!

Can't this be moved to the summer like World Cups/Euros/every other international competition?!

If it was held in June/July it would rule out something like half of Africa from hosting the tournament due to weather conditions then. I seem to remember reading that somewhere. It would be like doing something ridiculous like having the World Cup in a middle eastern country where the temperature is regularly over 40 degrees in June, and we know that would never happen.

I keep envisioning a front three of Bale, Adebayor and Aubameyang. Ugh, thing of frickin' beauty. Pace, strength, finishing from the wings. Not to mention the heading ability from crosses sent in. Could be really hard to account for.

Yeah! That would never happen.

Qatar 2022 is a figment of our imagination at the moment!

Well... I am here to accept defeat. I have been touting Aubameyang here about as often as humanly possible. Talking about a transfer? Well by God I'm talking about Aubame (My thought process over the past few months). Well, a report today with quotes from Aubameyang appears we were really interested, but far too interested for PEA's tastes.

With that, Aubameyang, goodbye my sweet sweet transfer target...

Way back in August we brought you a story from Le 10 Sport in France who said that that Spurs were targeting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a cheaper alternative to Loic Remy. The club's interest in the player was also reported byThe Sun and Sky Sports over the past week with claims that Tottenham, and Manchester United, had sent scouts to watch the St Etienne striker.

He is thought to favour staying in France for a while but his club would surely be tempted to cash in if a big enough offer arrived, however he's not too keen on Tottenham Hotspur. This week's Le10 magazine is full of interesting things regarding transfers related to Premier League clubs but perhaps the interview with Aubameyang is the most revealing. When asked about Tottenham interest and the possibility of him moving there he said he wasn't happy with what happened during the summer.
"In June, they tried to take me, it's true... it got a bit weird. If they come back in, I would say no. Without regret. I didn't appreciate the way in which it happened last summer. They contacted my father in England. Finally, there was an agent with another agent ... Agents arriving from everywhere, don't like to do it this way."

P.S. Younes Belhanda, welcome to my heart and soul.

Isn't his commentary name in FIFA absolutely fantastic?

Or am I getting confused?

This is of course the reason we should sign him.

It's always at the ''please transfer funds' stage that we seem to play games.

Doesn't suprise me at all, we're always hearing about a last minute deal collapsing which is never our fault, at the same time we always hear about what a nightmare we are to deal with, does make you wonder

I think that one of our standard techniques is to try to change already-agreed deals at the last moment, knowing that the other club is probably fully committed to it by then, psychologically and perhaps financially. Bait-and-switch. Very annoying for the other clubs and for the players and not really our most savory aspect as a club. PEA's comments (if he really made them) made me respect him more with his disdain for our agents trying to tap up his father.

I remember seeing somewhere that we are one of the clubs who pay the most to agents, in spite of supposedly being so frugal.

He don't want to come? Screw him. Simple.

I wasn't aware he had a multitude of fantastic clubs clambering over his signature to be honest. I guess he can afford to be picky.

He might want to look at Remy...he dithered when we were interested. Now he is going for a relative song and allegedly waiting for bigger clubs to come back in for him to avoid having to go to a mid-table Prem side.
