// The club have been in negotiations with Tottenham regarding the structure of the deal for around 10 days.

Spurs are set to include right-back Kyle Walker-Peters in a player-plus-cash deal following a successful loan spell on the South Coast//

Sounds good to me, unfortunately it is Express
They also said saint accepted an Everton offer and Hojbjerg even travelled to Liverpool for talks with the club. Obvious bs.

Latest reports seem to indicate Levy is sticking to his £15m valuation of the player and Southampton sticking to their £25m figure. You would think there would be a compromise in the middle somewhere to get this done but I've seen history with Levy sticking to his guns and then when he realises something is going to jeopardize the deal he increases the bid but by then its too late.

Interested to know what part of the negotiation team you make up?

Or are spouting the generic levy-bashing party-line to appear informed?

I'm just posting my thoughts from reports, ITK I've seen. Some which come to mind are Grealish, Berahino, Schneiderlin, Barkley, Fernandes (although he was possibly out of our price range to begin with).

Of course the counter argument is he has successfully signed great players out of the blue or via positive negotiation - Modric, Son, Toby, N'Dombele, GLC

Whilst multi million pound deals are complex as a fan I just want to see a player who I believe will be a first teamer in an important position to be signed sooner than later so he can get a good pre-season and used to Jose's tactics

“I’ve seen” is completely different to “I've been informed”. Maybe semantics, but so many forums are de-railed due to people insinuating one thing when actually they have no actual idea what is going on.

With only a year left on his contract I don’t think he’s worth more than £12-15m. His contract situation is probably the main reason we are after him. There are better players out there for £25-30m if that’s the price they are expecting. I think on this one Levy is right. I wouldn’t even be that bothered to miss out on him tbh.

At that price, Saints wont sell to us. They’ll find buyers at 20m. If they dont, they’ll keep him.

it was clear as day what he meant by I’ve seen and you’re choosing to be pedantic for little reason other than his original comment put your nose out of joint.

Are there really any better, prem-league-tested players, in a position we need, for £25-30m?

Not having a dig.
I genuinely can't think of any defensive/central midfielders as good as PEH for that amount.

I wouldn’t be that bothered personally. You pick and chose your battles. There are plenty of times when Levy needs to get things done quicker. For me this is not one of them. Whenever I’ve watched him I just get massive Michael Brown vibes. He’s ok for the energy and aggression he brings but haven’t seen anything beyond that.

so. i've just finished watching second season on the sunderland documentary on netflix, was interesting seeing all the haggling their chairman had to go through for a £4 million transfer ( will grigg) can you imagine what ours is gonna be like? " saints £25 million is our valuation"

levy " yeah, so how about 5?"

Not wishing to be argumentative but I don't think those cases happened quite that way. Grealish and Schneiderlin we agreed a fee on but Villa changed owners and put up the price and Saints changed their minds and wouldn't sell. Barkley got injured and we lost interest and Fernandes was always a back up option in case Lo Celso fell through. Berahino you may be right although I think it was the terms and their chairman cock waving, I think this was the one that started all the reputation thing.

I don’t know if they have to have played premier league football. Just be good to have someone who gives us something defensively but can also really handle the ball. A midfield of predominantly him, winks and Sissoko with Lo Celso is going to be a hard watch.

That’s my problem. Whilst I don’t particularly rate him he’s better than winks or Sissoko in the role so I would rather him in than nobody.

if it comes from ITK then I say it’s pretty close to being I have ‘’been informed’’. He is simply using old ITK on previous deals that went wrong to forward project where it could go wrong this time in relation to how we operate.

Personally I think we will get him but I can understand the glass half empty approach based on how our history affects fans.
