Sandro and Livermore cannot pass the ball to the standard required. Defoe cannot be blamed for today. VDV was fair but played most of the time on the half way line.....Sigmundson and Ade both looked less than fit when they came on

Friedel, Gallas and Bale I would give 5, was disappointed by all 3 yesterday. Gallas and Friedel looked a little too shakey at times and Bale didn't look sharp at all, maybe he just needs a few more games.

Walker, Livermore, Sandro, Defoe, Lennon all 6, none really did anything of note but did ok. Livermore went missing after Sandro went off though.

VdV, Vertonghen, Ekotto 7, thought Verts was shakey in first half although played the ball forward well and second half he made some key tackles. VdV for me was again linking up play fairly well and i felt he came off too soon, should've been VdV and Adebayor for the last 30 minutes.

If I was Bale, I would ask Defoe why he was nowhere near some of the ball crosses that he put into the box in the first half.

This has been going on for years now. Bale flashing crosses across that six yard box and Defoe nowhere near them. Lennon's not much better.

I just saw MOTD's feature on Dembele (don't laugh) but fuck me, how we could do with a midfielder who could beat people so easily.

I don't understand how he doesn't recognise it, he's been training with these guys for years.

To be fair, Adebayor doesn't make enough near post runs either and its something that we've lacked for years.

Something so simple that can be so effective and yet we don't make the most of it.

My honest opinion is that he is thick, tobi.

he may have kept the ball but he sucked all the momentum out of team as all his passes put us on the back foot- side ways backwards but never forward. this is a result of a lack of confidence, not wanting to mess up. fault partially can be laid on fans who booed.

Lol do me a favour. Firstly he didn't only pass sideways and backwards that's blatantly not true, and secondly through his 12 or so touches of the ball we lost momentum? I mean how do you even begin to quantify that with all the other variables going on in the game?

He came on with about 15 minutes to go after we scored. He never gave the ball away. He didn't do anything wrong. West Brom went shit or bust and equalized. If that had been Livermore coming on and playing the same it wouldn't even get a mention on here.

I hope Jenas leaves for his sake. But I'm worried that the fuck wits will just turn their attention to another player to vent their rage and ignorance on. After all it needs an outlet somewhere...

just re watching the highlights on GoS and i swear on WBA's equalizer Friedel is completly ROOTED. At least with Gomes i know he single handiley wiped out most our CB's but at least he got a good fist on the ball and looked to attack it........
Friedel is looking for our defenders to clear it when its on his goaline, its ridiculous. Bales clearance was terrible, but Friedel should have taken control of it IMO and held onto the ball and calmed it down......

For the record-2 forward passes, 7 backward passes, 1 square pass.

Do I think Livermore's a better player than him? Nope.

Friedel 6.5
Walker 6.5
BAE 6.5
Gallas 6
Vertonghen 7
Sandro 6
Livermore 6
VDV 7
Lennon 6.5
Bale 6
Defoe 5
subs
Adebayor 5
Jenas 5
Sigurdsson 5
Fans who booed Jenas 0

Can go along with this, I think, though if we're being objective I think Bale was at least a 7, in the first half certainly our best player, but I accept that we've come to expect more from him than (most) others. Maybe a bit hard on Friedel, he made a couple of good saves yesterday. And while I was hardly impressed with Livermore he certainly did as much as Sandro.

We lacked creativity, cutting edge and the ability for someone to get on the end of the many good crosses and great passes put in by Bale and Lennon in the first half. Though still frustrated with our defensive in(abilities) after having thought it through I think that with Ade or another proper striker up front in the first half he would've gotten on the end of a couple of those balls and we would've been ahead. It's not Defoe's fault, really, but he quite simply cannot play up front on his own, as well know by now..

You must really not rate Livermore then :sneaky:. I still say Huddlestone in along side Sandro for the moment.

I don't rate him, Damian, no. I pull my punches somewhat on this forum as I don't want to be seen to be courting controversy. I actually think Livermore and Jenas are remarkably similar in the way that neither of them can really impose themselves on a game. I don't rate Huddlestone either. And don't get me started on Friedel.

Somebody like Dembele alongside Sandro could work well.

Ha, seriously?

So if you're going to run with that god knows what you must have made of Siggy completing 3/6 passes in more time than JJ had? Or did losing the ball half the time he had it somehow inject momentum into our play?

Out of the 3 subs that came on, JJ was the only one who actually did the job he was asked to do.

Well thats why i said Huddlestone for the time being. I am hoping we get at least two players of real quality this week.

imo i feel we need a keeper, someone to replace Lennon or at least push him for the starting 11 and who could possible cover bale if need be. Some creativity in the middle and i may get hung for this but i want someone else up top instead of ADE, i can't quite put my finger on it but he isn't my cuppa tea.

And that was?? Just interested.

Well I can't say I heard AVBs specific instructions but I guess it would have been long the lines of, 'sit in front of the back 4 and keep possession of the football', which he did.

I have to say that Sigurdsson really worries me for an £8m buy because I can't really fathom out what he actually does other than taking decent corners.
I have watched him in pre-season(ok scored a nice goal) and in our 2 games in the league and his general play has been woeful.
He really needs to up his performance levels and work his balls off in training if he really wants to be accepted here.

We are seriously lacking in attacking midfield and if you look at all the BIG clubs,United,City and Chelsea that's where they have invested because these are the players who win games in the modern era.

Dembele is 10 times the player Sigurdsson is and is definitely a player that we should be looking at...............and guess what?
We might even be able to actually afford him, instead of wasting half the window chasing players like Oscar and Hazard who we have NO chance of getting.

Anyone that booed Jenas should be ashamed of themselves

In all honesty, what I heard were grumbles of discontent rather than booing if I'm perfectly honest.

Walking out of WHL it was like the old days again, every man and his dog blaming JJ for us not winning.
