He’s been poor so far this season, and I think if Davies and Sessegnon were fit he wouldn’t be anywhere near the team. It’s clear we wanted shot of him in the summer, and I’d imagine that has fucked with his concentration etc which I can’t blame him for really. He’s been a good servant for the club, and it’s a shame he’s seemingly petering out.

I feel a bit for Danny as for me he was a lot more focused defensively than in the previous games, maybe even a little too tucked in if anything. Made a great block at the far post. Clearly a response to the Newcastle and Villa goals. Such a shame he's undone this with a terrible mistake on the ball at a crucial time.

Concentration has always been an issue in his game. I think for the incident I. Question he’d got distracted by the response from the crowd shouting hand ball. I wonder if the thought of another VAR pen going against him for handball got in his head there.

Like you say he played well on the whole.

He’d actually played well in the first half yesterday until failing to clear the ball before they scored. That was a big error though, we can’t have defensive decision making like that if we want to keep clean sheets.

My issue is, as good a servant as he has been, a full back of his experience should not be watching on every time a cross comes in from the other side and admiring rather than getting goal side, nor should he be failing to stop all crosses coming in from his side.

Aubameyang’s goal for instance, as much as Vertonghen should’ve known to pull back, his back was to Aubameyang. Rose, however, had eyes directly on him. Joelinton, once again, Sanchez might miss the header, Sissoko might have turned his back to the cross, but Rose is the player responsible for tucking in there. Same with McGinn (ok, long ball rather than a cross). Then v City what side did both crosses come from?

I’m not saying he is at fault for every goal we’ve conceded, but a player of his experience, who has this much trust from the manager, shouldn’t be culpable even in part for a goal conceded four games running, especially not when offensively he offers the square route of fuck all.

I like Danny Rose, but right now I see a man who plays for himself, hence a lot of ‘passionate’ thumping tackles for the cameras, a lot of drives forward with the ball to show off his attacking pace and technique, but very little interest in glueing with the defensive unit, tracking back, or reading the game... Rose was guilty of all of these pre-Pochettino and I’m afraid on current evidence he has reverted.

Will be interesting to hear Danny's side of the story when it comes out...

"It wasn't tough, it is what it is," he said. "Not everything that was publicised in the summer was entirely true and I think in the future I will have my say on everything that happened but I don't want to focus on negativity at the minute.

"I guess I should be happy with maybe being up for sale and having started the first four games for Tottenham and the first England game of the campaign.

"I can't lie I am very happy, but I just want to say that everything that was written in the summer wasn't entirely true."

Pretty obvious the club wanted to get rid of him.

imo is the link between him and Sanchez that haven't worked out, yet. The span between them at villa, newcastle and city has been too far. If you look over the goals conceded for those games mentioned, you'll clearly see what I'm talking about.

Danny has been having to finding a new dynamic, as alluded to ^

I've no problem with him. He's an outspoken lad, he deals with things positively, and its part of his personality. He's had a lot to deal with and to be honest I'm glad he's not letting negativity get the better of him. Its obvious Sess has been brought in to be his long term successor, but Rose has been here yonks, worked hard throughout, and become as much a part of this club as Harry or anyone. His head was turned by Kyle's move, but he recognises he shafted himself, and has knuckled down since.

Whatever happens, happens, but I've no bones with Danny.

Hopes he lands himself a last decent contract somewhere next summer and that he might have some decent games left in him until then.

Maybe the closing of the transfer window and the fact that Davies and soon Sessegnon is fit will better his focus.

It's incredible that he's still with England. Should have been dropped like Dier and Dele. They are far away from international quality at the moment

He did what he does, gave his all, which (nearly always) includes going for things he can't win.

He wasn't bad, but he has this uncanny knack of winding opposition players/fans and himself up.

He was poor which is the norm for him these days. Didn’t get forward much, lost possession and made stupid tackles.

He was lucky not to get sent off.

The whole England defence were crap though and they weren’t helped by a midfield which couldn’t keep possession or pass forward.

shocker is a bit much but he didn't do a whole lot right either, a 4 or 5/10 performance - he certainly wasn't alone in that though.

the whole situation with rose is just a mystery to me though. last season he was clearly first choice and whilst he wasn't back to his best he was at least heading in the right direction. then the summer comes and we pretty much tell him he's free to go and even up until transfer deadline day it looked like he was off, to watford of all clubs. at the same time we hand davies a new five year deal so at that point you'd be thinking the writing is on the wall as far as rose is concerned and yet he's carried on as first choice, i know davies came back a bit later due to injury but still.

I think he will be first out the door in January.

Poch has had to integrate him into the team because Davies hasn’t been 100% fit and sessegnon has been injured. So we’ve needed him and Poch has played him through gritted teeth. I suspect he’s one of the ones who’s attitude isn’t helping the players. Sure he gives his all but he lets everyone know about it, could start fights on the pitch at any moment and looks generally unhappy. I doubt having that type of attitude around the place helps anyone. It’s why I reckon Poch was happy to move him on in the summer. He’s just had enough of having to deal with him.

His decline is incredible. I think the reality with rose is he’s always been a very average player who had three or four seasons where he peaked and played really well but than reverted to type.

He’s shocking nowadays. Amazed he still gets picked for England.
