Sorry but you could buy a 500 million pound centre back and he'd be a shambles in the side.

Sanchez and our other defenders looked good originaly because they had strong very quick fullbacks either side
A monster of a dm Infront of them, and great team organisation with high off the ball work rate from everyone.

Ndombele gets digs , but I saw Kane, bergwjin strolling around not defending from the front and sissoko just not paying attention to holes in the backline ( to be fair to him he isn't a dm )

Just kicking the can down the road, those fundamental flaws in his game will always be there, and mistakes will still be around the corner and on the ball, blooming heck. You can say the same about any player, surround them with absolute quality and they will get carried and protected a lot.

He makes the same mistakes game after game. He’s not going to change. This is him as a player. Sometimes he gets away with it and it gets brushed over, sometimes we get everyone behind the ball and defend our penalty box like Man Utd and he gets protected and made to look better than he is. The truth is our whole defence needs replacing and that’s not an exaggeration

Sanchez just cannot do the basics right, mind you he isn't the only back four player guilty of that. Piss poor sums up he and Aurier.

Most disappointing player after Dele Alli for me. I still have hopes for him but I wouldn't be upset if he was sold.

I couldn't agree more. When you think back 3 years ago at these two, i was so excited. Dele as this exceptional fearless young talent seem to have the world at his feet and Sanchez a really sought after CB with power and pace for us to nurture.

But now, Dele has regressed from 3 years ago and seems to have believed his hype and become a player that will struggle to make the England squad and doesn't really have any defined role in the team other than moaning at anyone who doesn't pass the ball to him to stop play to a snails pace.

Davinson is even funnier, as soon as Mousset came on i text my pal saying Davinson will lose his shit. EVERY SINGLE TIME that boy is faced with a physical quick striker he goes into 'battle mode' with them and ALWAYS loses out. It's become a thing of comedy, he forget all the basics and his position and gets tunnel vision against this one player where it's basically me versus this striker and he becomes super erratic, more keen on trying to show the striker who the alpha male is and every single time he loses out. For those that keep saying he is young, come on guys 3 years at a top club in the Premier League and zero improvement.

I would actually prefer if both of these were sold, i'd much rather Gabriel partner Dier at the back, much more calmer defender and i'd much rather spend the Dele money on a back up striker.

People keep saying he is still young etc etc for a CB, well we have already waited 3 years for him to develop into a top class CB and we can't afford to wait any longer as we need a top class CB now, get rid and invest in a fully developed CB.

Here is my proposal.

If Jose doesn't rate Davinson then sell him to napoli or sevilla or even valencia as i think they will be in need of a defender in this season and i can see them forking out 30-35m for Davinson. Take the money and buy kim min jae and gabriel magalhaes from Lille whom are both tall, physically strong and very good on the ball as well ...

He may still improve. He certainly has time on his side.

But my gut tells me this is just another piece of transfer business that hasn't really come off.

He's OK. OK.

Now solely locked into the spot of most overrated player on the team. Has not improved since the day we signed him.

Have said this since his first two seasons. People will still defend the guy and says he could be a world class player - ehm nope.

Like Trix said, there a reason why Mourinho want more CBs.

No one was saying any of this bar one or two of the most expert experts on here when he stepped in along side Jan when Toby went down a couple of seasons ago.

Some 'fans' in here are proper banter merchants.

I'd look to clear out Davies before Sanchez.

Don't understand why Davies gets a free pass - "A solid and dependable squad player..." or... "A low-grade player who doesn't have the attributes to play wing back and isn't the best left back or centre back either."

A complete defensive revamp is needed.

Personally I would like us to revert back to Vert and Toby for the rest of the season. It wasn't to long ago they were arguably the best CD in the PL. It couldn't be any worse than it is now. Even if they are not as good as a couple of seasons ago they are certainly better than what we have at the moment.

The problem with being so nostalgic about players who are 30+ and have been in the professional game for over a decade is you can go completely blind to how rapidly a player's level can deteriorate.

Vertonghen hasn't played a truly good game since the Dortmund game almost 18 months ago, and on top of that he's leaving the club anyway so why on earth should we play a 33 year old who won't be with us next season when we have virtually nothing to play for any more?

This is a chance to give younger players competitive minutes in the league, and that is the chance we should be taking. Give players like Cirkin, Tanganga (if fit) and Skipp a chance to show their worth.

Agree with Davies not Sanchez.

I totally agree normally but what we have at the moment isn't working especially Sanchez, I was just thinking that to get those extra points to help us finish in a EL position it couldn't be any worse and their experience just might bring some life back in the team.

Would certainly like to see Skipp and Sessegnon start against Everton. Cant be any worse than what's in the team currently.

Just tell Skipp to sit in front of the back 4, protect the defence.

Sanchez needs somebody experienced beside him who can marshall the defense - he doesn't have that with Dier beside him and I'd rather have Toby in there with him for that reason. I think he is a decent player who could still develop into a very good one but he hasn't really kicked on in the last year or two but he is still young for a defender so I'm not going to give up on him. I also think he has been our best defender this season - although that is not saying much.

Honestly wouldn’t mind giving him a shot in the dm role he played there for Ajax and he played there for his team in Colombia
