a truly awful player, who hides and best contribution is to point all the time

I don't agree with awful, but could not agree more when it comes to the hiding part.

I get it. He is low on confidence. As I have said before I don't mind him being conservative in his passing. Rather that then him playing those Pirlo-passes, but there is really no excuse for hiding. How are you supposed to play anything else than Pulis-football when your deepest midfield player actually tries to avoid getting the ball? Honestly embarrassing. I would prefer it if he tried to make himself available for then to be caught in possession 10 times a half. At least he would try and maybe at some point he would get it. How he is supposed to improve when he isn't even trying I don't even know.

This was after a good games against Wolverhampton (obviously not good on the ball, but at least a step in the right direction). He was supposed to have built a bit of confidence from that win - and he ends up playing almost worse than ever.

And I like Dier. I trust him to give his best. At one point I was afraid of losing him to Utd for 50m. Things have changed. I haven't completely given up yet, but hugely disappointed from yesterday.

I said when José came that he would turn Dier around (I don't mean literally since he has the turning circle of the Arc Royal). I even said the impact would be such that Dier would start in DM for England at next year's Euro's.

Well, based on what I've seen so far what a ridiculous comment I made! Dier has been awful. He was never the sharpest but my god he looks unbelievably slow and so bad on the ball.

Unfortunately he's probably the best we have right now but an upgrade is desperately needed and hopefully will be delivered in January.

Which sadly means you don't get to have an alt transfer thread wherever you feel like.

Wasn't my intention old man, you should try and enjoy Christmas instead of acting like the forum police every time a transfer is bought up outside of the TF, just like Levy's height life is far too short. :D

When a player is actively moving into positions that he can't receive the ball what other option do you have than to offer him a new contract...

Dier was wicked in his first two seasons. Sad to see how much he’s declined but some of the toxic comments on here are pretty poor tbh.

Yes, because he's shit.

Yeah ok now back in the real world, regardless of your opinion about him as a footballer, he's still a multi-million pound asset, just like all our other players that need protecting by ensuring their contracts don't run down.
