You play well you get another game, you play bad you get dropped.

That's how it should be.

Naughton hasn't had a bad game this season, it wasn't really his fault that Dier took his chance.

The lad should be given the match, and played in his PROPER position. Partnering Vertonghen. Got to drop Kaboul.

Hopefully when walker comes back dier can get some more games on his proper position. Although he has generally done well he has been caught out a few times recently

Spurs have been in this awful situation a few times regarding captain. When Keane came back a few months later Redknapp made him captain, his form was awful and it seemed he couldn't be dropped due to wearing the armband. That happened with a declining Dawson too. Lo and behold it's happening again with Kaboul which means Dier and Fazio will be waiting a while to be regular starters

He's a CB.
indeed he is and darned good looking prospect at such a young age. it is a shame he's been stuck playing out of position all season so far - I would like to see him paired up with Vertonghen for a few games as I believe they would make a strong central duo,.... well see (y)

Personally I would prefer Fazio in today's game.
You mean the guy who looked terrible against City and gave a penalty away? I'd play Fazio in another cup game before I let him loose on the Premier League again. It was a rash and poor decision by Poch playing him in that game. The champions no less. Why do you want him in?

Fazio played well against City, constantly mopping up Kaboul's shite.

Id still start Naughton and Dier mind.

A bit more physical against Benteke is the reason I would like him in. I think Di er would get bullied and show up his inexperience. To be honest Dier and Fazio won't start. It will be Kaboul and Verts.

This chopping and changing stuff is ridiculous lads, if we're being honest.

Are the same people on these threads asking for Kaboul to be dropped, Fazio to start, Fazio dropped, Dier in/ Dier Out, the same people asking for consistency of personnel week in, week out.

Kaboul is the captain. He won't be dropped. He should be starting games with Verts. If we can't get a partnership of two at CB nailed down then we'll struggle, simple as that. The CB partnership is not something you dick about with if you can help it. It's not like shifting around midfielders to suit opposition. You need consistency. A bad performance, hell, 5 bad performances, shouldn't be the catalyst for "trying something new". Dier is a great player and in a few years no doubt he'll be a certain starter. But at the moment I don't want to see him ahead of Kaboul or Verts. I want experience at CB, players that know each other, know the league. Dier has a year or two at least I think, before it's reasonable that he'll be considered as a starting CB.

Him being caught out a few times has cost us goals and games. He's too slow for a RB and the longer he gets played there the worse his confidence will be. At this rate we could end up ruining another great prospect. Playing him at CB or not at all.

He's not that slow. He reminds me a bit of ivanovic in size ,build and pace (obviously not as good).
I agree his natural position is CB but a few games at RB is hardley going to ruin him
