Good game against Burnley - praise
Bad game against Bayern - criticism

This thread is nuts
Very easy game against Burnley, he looked ok. Had work to do last night, looked beyond awful.

Not exactly difficult to see he isn't good enough against top Cm's.

Exactly. Not sure what Shadys point is here. The bloke isn't good enough, and one average game against Brurnley who let's be honest were fucking woeful, doesn't change the fact that he is nowhere near good enough. I think people are overrating how good he was against Burnley too. He only did what was expected to do in that role and was hardly amazing.

It was actually embarrassing seeing him play yesterday he was so far down from the level we need and expect.

As I said, if Jose does not realise very quickly that Dier is useless and replaces him, it will effect Jose's tenure big time. Playing Dier we will continually be outclassed and lose the battle in CM. We might get away with it against Burnley, but against better teams we will suffer.

Honestly at the moment he would stand out as being poor in a league one side, that's how bad he is.

If he plays well then its good if he doesn't then fans aren't happy DUH ! Why is this surprising .

If you do well at work people will praise...if you do badly people will criticise . So whats your point ?

If you think this stream is nuts ( it isn't) then don't come in here .

How about those who are happy to criticise him and point out his flaws when he has a bad game pipe up when he plays well and vice versa....

This thread just like many other player thread has zero balance to it, it's like a see saw of extreme OTT nonsense

I guess its how you choose to see it . However I'm sure you see the logic of praising a good performance and criticising a poor one .

That's how life is . People are criticising specifics too , its not only 'Dier is shit ' and this is a forum for football opinions too !

Maybe you have a belief in Dier such that you find criticism of his poor matches as offensive to the extent that somehow lines have
been crossed . They haven't imo . Dier is a fabulously wealth huge success in life , he doesn't need your sympathy and has been playing rather badly which SPURS fans (not individual player fans) understandably don't like .

Sure If/when he plays better then SPURS fans will like his performances again and say so ...in this thread .

This isn't an outbreak of madness on a footie forum, trust me .

The problem is, for as poor as Dier has been, we’ve seen for the last year that a Sissoko and Winks partnership is much worse and should never been seen again. So unless Mourinho starts trusting Skipp, Dier will start at DM. I’d love to see how a Skipp and Ndombele partnership will work but i doubt we ever will.

Is it possible that Dier always looked better in a Tottenham team that always played high up the pitch, had Dembele to dominate the midfield, full backs who roamed up and down and a very solid defensive partnership that he'd often drop into?

We've lost most of that and Dier is being more and more exposed.

Dier had a couple of illnesses virtually on top of each other this year and I honestly think they have taken a toll on what mobility he had and sadly it’s something he might not be able to get back.

I think that last mystery illness thing he had has killed his career. I don't know what it is, but he's having playing of game time and he is not getting into shape. It's a massive worry. Right now he's an actual liability out there.

It seems Mourinho has at least some confidence in him as he made him Captain against Bayern.

His best 2 games were against a truly woeful Red Star and a piss poor Burnley. Anyone better than them and he's getting exposed. I presume Mourinho thinks he can play his way back to fitness, but if we're going to play that game, I'd be happier with a perma-crocked Wanyama than a perma-crocked Dier.

Sad to see his decline so apparent last night. Personally think he should have been given a rest after playing on the weekend as he clearly isn't fit.
Yes, but for purpose though. You see the evidence, time and again, yet you keep coming to the wrong conclusions. He's not going to get 'more fitter' by sitting him down for a bit or giving him another year until fictitious (not the documented ones) ailments resolve. He just isn't good enough. When football is happening around him he is a passenger. But when other donkeys are about like in the Burnley game he feels right at home. He had to feel lost as hell last night.

Spot on @Trix , @Shadydan players can look good against poor teams but we are going to the next level now so good against Burnley doesn’t cut it I’m afraid. Top CL team is our level and unfortunately it most certainly isn’t Eric Dier’s level

Our CM has been utter shite since Dembele left, which just shows how deceptively amazing he really was.

Starting to think playing without a dm is our best option if the only other involves dier. Lets just try outscore teams with a cm2 of n'dombele and lo celso or sissoko perhaps.

He had a good run with Spurs and I will always remember his debut goal vs West Ham. Unfortunately, he is now below our level by some bit. Will be a good pickup by a bottom half team. I think he needs to make the move back to CB to salvage his career.

The thing is he truly believes he is a top DM and that is where he wants to play. Sadly he is deluded then. He is a million miles away from being a CL level quality CM/DM. He can’t even get into a poor England midfield which consists of let’s be honest, a poor bunch of players including Winks and Rice.

The thing is Dier is a donkey at CB too.
