He is a very good squad player who can cover several positions. We need players like this in the squad so unsurprised to see him get a new contract. Fingers crossed he can get back to some bit of form.

Yeah ok now back in the real world, regardless of your opinion about him as a footballer, he's still a multi-million pound asset, just like all our other players that need protecting by ensuring their contracts don't run down.

You said he has 18m contracts remaining, he still could be sold for decent money. And we really don't need to rush with extending his contract.

I'll let the people running the club decide on that. Assuming we were looking to sell in the summer (I doubt we are), he would have 6 months until he could be approached for a pre-contract by an overseas club. Makes sense to extend it.

An extension? An exorcism is what's needed. The guys been possessed by the spirit of somebody who's never kicked a ball in his life.

Never rated him to begin with. Had the luck of playing next to arguably the best press resistant midfielder in the modern premier league era in Dembele. Now that he is gone everyone can see Dier for what he is. Mediocre.

He's proven to be inept there too.

There's criticism of a player and then there's unnecessary posts like these. You're conveniently forgetting the 2-3 years when he was a vital cog in our team, where his versatility meant we were able to adjust on the fly and allowed other players to thrive and excel. Him looking like a shadow of himself has more to do with illness and injuries rather than being inept or needing an exorcism.

You reward him with an extension when he performs. Not when he's the worst player in the prem.

It’s twofold, 1 - our team used to be way way better and we had a nailed style and confidence and he was basically playing in our back 3 in a 3-4-2-1, so yes he doesn’t look as good in our current team but 2: as our team isn’t as good now he is being shown up for his lack of quality in CDM.

play the boy CB and we could have a player, CDM no way Jose.

It makes damn sense to get him to sign a contract, means we can sell him for a higher fee. Would be foolish to let his contract run out... What the fuck

He isn't great but he really needs to be at cb not at dm
