Curious case this boy. He just needs to deliver performances like yesterday on a more regular basis. Sometimes he is so frustrating, but never question his effort. Good to have him around.

Lamela on form is formidable and makes our strongest 11 IMO...always said that if he can add more goals then we are talking.

I hope now we march on this season Liverpool at Anfield will be a massive test.

I'm hoping we can put to bed some emotional hang ups we have from losing that final by putting in a performance against the team who beat us.

Hold tight for a minute. I'll be back once I've made the same point in the other player threads to make you and @SlotBadger feel better.
I don't need you to apportion similar critique to other players in order to justify your comment here. I merely stated that I didn't see Lamela dally on the ball last night. This doesn't mean I am right, but for you to say he did it "more than a few times" is simply untrue.

Just watch it again mate, and so we’ve got a yardstick, more than a few to me is 3 or 4.

He did alright on Saturday but he could hardly have been worse and was good last night - but he is not good enough ultimately looks alright in the highlights but a player who we need to get rid off. Likeable bloke tries hard but makes awful decisions on the football pitch disappears u up blind alleys game after game - defensively a liability.

He has to be one of players we move on he has had his chance and he is not going to get any better

He does need to do better in-front of goal that's for sure, luckily he offers a lot besides goals, set our first 2 up tonight.
So does Kane, Sonny and Dele. They also miss chances that they should easily have put away.

Seems like the other day some dude was saying sell him because he didn't block the cross that led to the 1st Brighton goal, of that's right it was.

i know people like the bloke but don't you think he should have at least made an effort to stop that cross coming in - even though he clearly isn't responsible for the Lloris mistake he had to do better there

Yeah but we're not talking about them, we're in the Lamela thread talking about how he can improve and if he was putting up some of the numbers they do to go along with his great all round play we'd have a monster on our hands.

I'm surprised at the negativity towards him, personally. In what has been a disappointing season so far, Lamela has been one of the bright sparks for me. I just like having him as a fit option for us.

If he hasn't been our best player then at the very least he's certainly been the most consistent

Not a fan of his style of play or decision making but no doubt he gets it and is one of us. For this alone, he has to play every match.

Everytime he's on the pitch, he's always giving his all and then some. His motor is preposterous. He only knows how to give 110%. Creative, great presser and a fucking pain in the ass to the opposition. Best word to describe him is a pitbull. But he also creates chances on goal. Love him. Always have, always will.

We’re judging attacking players as defensive liabilities?
