Yep, unfortunately for Lamela he is incapable of staying fit so it would be worth selling him in the summer with a view of replacing him with someone who is available all the time!

Doesn’t even start the game vs City & gets himself injured for a game where rotation is key :banghead:

Yes he has his moments but we can not afford to carry him anymore.

We don’t have the luxury of a large amount of attacking players & therefore he needs to be replaced next season for someone who isn’t so bloody injury prone.

It’s weird how Dier and Davies’ threads never get bumped like this? I genuinely don’t understand it. All three of them have infuriating injury records but the bile from our resident angries is reserved for Lamela.

dont think many tears would be shed if Davies or Dier were sold, either.

Dier gets treated much more critically than Lamela and there's just less expected out of Davies as a career back-up.

We can’t afford to carry him? SPOT ON! That’ll be why the club hasn’t just got rid. He’s still around because he performs when called upon and available. I’d sell when we get the chance, but I’m bored of our agenda-driven, numbskull fans lying in wait to slag him off. We’ve got some of the worst supporters in the country, maybe the worst.

Dier gets shit all the time, injured or not.

Davies probably gets away with it because he's seen much more as a backup (and is probably on fairly low wages). I think he's a bit more unlucky, I can't remember exactly but it feels like he usually gets injured during a game. Lamela picks up injuries in training all the time.

Mate we’ve given him enough years to prove his fitness, there’s no faulting his effort or passion or effectiveness when called upon but given we have a thin squad attacking wise we can’t any longer carry a player who has so so many injuries during a season.
it’s not his fault but if we can’t rely on him to-be fit for more than 50% of the season then better off selling him.

I agree, we should sell him - but the notion we’re “carrying him” is simply absurd.

I think before any judgements, i'd like to know how serious this injury is. Could just be small and they are protecting him. Let's wait to find out before throwing the Lamela out with the bath water.

But I can certainly sympathise with the sentiment that we should cut our losses if he ends up being out another two or three months.

Simply can't be relied on. So, would make sense to replace him in the long-run.

For his sake, I hope he's okay. Would love to see him play out the season injury free.

love the guy, any idea how serious the injury is?

I wouldn't worry too much, groin injuries usually heal after a week or two. They just make it very hard to walk normaly for a couple of days, but my prediction is he should be back for Chelsea at the latest.
