To be honest from the few frames of him I was able to watch on the Premier Sport broadcast he provided more of a threat in his short cameo than any other attacker.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

A lot of people have wanted to move him on since the day her arrived pretty much. I think if he does go, he will be missed, at the very least in the giving a shit stakes.

Whilst I do agree with that, we need to shift him on if we want another CM - one that is hopefully more reliable in terms of availability and more consistency.

Big fan of Lamela but hes very rarely put in a solid number of games. He also seems to get injured when we really need him to be available.

Better to shift Alli

Lamela is probably our best option as AM from the bench, his enthusiasm and desire are perfect as a sub, he gives so much when he is on the pitch. With Bale joining and possibly a back up striker, i'd rather sell Dele and Lucas before Lamela, i feel he will be more valuable as a squad member and accept that position more easier than especially Dele.

We would need to replace him with another creative CM/AM if he goes. Herc has said we're in for one, so fingers crossed Roma do hold some interest.

We need a striker and that will most likely have to be a non HG player, so we have to make a space. IMO, I'd let Lamela go for a realistic fee and try to bring in someone like Weghorst and David Brookes from Bournemouth. If Weghorst is too dear I'd be fine with Diallo from Metz.

Love Erik but with his injury record and high wages he will be one of the prime candidates to sell. As we could see in the doc his commitment is not questionable - willing to play injured- but it's the fact that when we had Kane and Son injured he still wasn't 100% did not help us.

A move to Roma could be great for all parties. He seems to love Spurs but he loves Roma too. It looks like we will be in the market for a creative #8 so selling Lamela and getting one in would be a good evolution to the squad.

Are we still getting a striker?

Off the back of someone calling Lamela a **** in the match thread yesterday, I'd like to highlight his defensive work, which some individuals fail to appreciate just because he missed a chance:

I think everyone appreciates his defensive work. I guess the question is a whether working hard defensively makes up for his other deficiencies.

for me it's the big games where the headless chicken approach doesn't work against top class opposition.

but there are moments of quality, there is desire which is infectious, and he clearly is smart enough to understand orders from the bench. against the Saints watching him get involved, help the midfield out, and press was game changing and something not all players have.

if he goes for a huge price to balance the books so be it, other wise great rotation option and credit to the club.

I think he is a valuable squad addition, especially from the bench or against weak oppositions. He is still very frustrating at times but there is something and at least he never is missing the fight and desire. Would be very disappointed if we sell him on.

He's put in some fantastic performances against top class opposition in the past though, including a couple of big performances against Man City - leading the press, winning back possession and getting goals / assists.

His pressing only looks like a "headless chicken approach" when his teammates fail to press with him, as Poch expected them to.

Everyone seems to forget that during our era of high-pressing football (our best period under Poch), our press was by far the most effective when Lamela was on the pitch. When he was fit, there were spells where he was keeping Son out of the team - especially against top class opposition.

He helped give us more rhythm when he came on against Southampton - purely by the fact that he wants to show for the ball and pass it unlike Moura. Did well again yesterday.
