Made the difference for us when he came on. The energy and urgency he played with. We went up a gear with him on the pitch. .

Even if he doesn't play every game, score or assist a whole lot, hes exactly the type of player Jose loves. Should be in the squad every game. I'd probably absolutely hate him if he played for anyone else.
He was almost the perfect player to bring into last nights match, hope Coco can stay fit all season as he will really win us some points, very much a Mouriniho player.

I wonder what other shitty things he does outside of football. I reckon he pulls up to a petrol station and sees both pumps are free but takes the one behind to stop the car behind getting one.

Offers so much more than any stats could show. Far superior to lucas imo. He drives us on every single time he comes on.

At dinner parties, he definitely goes into the kitchen and removes a spoon and places it in the knife drawer just to fuck with the host's head the next day

While in the kitchen, removes all the labels from the cans in the pantry, so the host have no idea what is what

The Bournemouth site actually has a short Lamela thread with a poll for the game in July: How many fouls can Lamela commit before getting a yellow on the totting up rule?

How does he get away with it every time?

As many as Fernandinho?

He didn't even get a yellow did he?
By the 35th minute or so he had already committed 3 fouls, I said to my daughter "he's getting a yellow now" but nothing.

Unbelievable he didn't get booked. His body language right from the start said booking but typical big club advantage.

He always looks to me like he should be taking part in the Day Of The Dead festival in Mexico.

He's the new Xhaka.

Should have been booked for his barnet before kick off, but I was surprised he wasn't booked for the one challenge when he actually got the ball.

BBC match text: Foul by Lamela (repeat till full time)

He’s ripe for a prolonged spell in the starting line up, just in time for the congested Autumn match calendar.
I agree — he should be first choice on the right wing at the moment. His movement and relentless pressing is so valuable to the way we play, especially while we have Kane and Son on Ballon d'Or form.

Lamela has issues with his endurance he has to be managed somewhat. When you start him you know he is taking up a sub slot or can't play the next game.

He will be a very important squad player this season but he is not a regular starter.

That makes sense. Not surprised to see him staying fit now that we're managing his minutes effectively. Surely he'd be fine to play once a week in the league though, while Bale (and Lucas) plays midweek as he regains his fitness?

In reality, with the squad we have I'd like to see nearly all of our regular Premier League starters rested midweek for the Europa League throughout the group stages — especially Kane & Son.

I’d consider aiming for starting him as a rule when we face City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Leicester. He can come in and kick off the fight from the start. I like it when he comes on at the end of matches too and keeps the energy up, but for those specific fixtures within a four weeks period I’d aim to utilise his edge from the get go. If he must be subbed and that’s a given, yes- that’s a bit restrictive but so be it.

To add to this, Lamela still has a swollen right achilles.

He’s worn odd boots a few times this season (the interviewer asked about this after the cup win against Chelsea).

Adidas have been using specialist stores to source old footwear for Erik to try in order to isolate the issue.
The pairs he wore versus Burnley and Southampton are from 2013 and 2014.

Love how people just ignore the fact he holds on to the ball far far too long and never passes! He is a decent sub for his energy but shouldn’t be starting once bale is fully fit that right sided spot isn’t even a debate tbh
