We need a young hungry striker not llorente if Poch cannot see that, then I'm very disappointed.

A young hungry striker who won't ever get on the pitch if Kane is lower than 70% fit and will also wait in line behind Son and Moura? Where are we going to get that?

Kane gets injured every season we were short for players. Kane and Son don't need to play league cup and 90 mins in the FA Cup. Poch really has to stop over using some players as it makes injuries and burnout more likely. Get the right young player before he is proven and just might have another star..

Another point on this should we be wasting a foreign spot on Llorente?

If we are going to be breaking our transfer record twice in the same summer, maybe the funds will be pretty low to invest elsewhere. It doesn't grow on trees after all.

Llorente for a backup whilst Parrott pushes through? That doesn't sound too bad if we are trying to find a balance between short and long term

We have two new foreign players and Tripper has gone we didn't have enough HG players last season which meant our squad was light. I don't see how Llorente helps us

That might well be Troy Parrott and Llorente would provide cover and a top class mentor for him for a season. If we go out and buy a young, hungry striker like you suggest, we might as well bin Parrott before he's even had a chance. Llorente doesn't cost us a penny and we're spending big in crucial areas. 4th choice striker isn't one of them though.

There really is no concern over foreign spots. We opened up one when Vorm was released for Ndombele and I believe another slot has been opened up in the CL by Foyth reverting to list B this summer (not sure). Add that to potential departures of other Non HG players, we shall be fine.

Truly do not understand how anyone can be against resigning ‘nando for a year first of all he doesn’t cost anything would actually be taking a paycut.

Second of all and the big one, there is not a team in the world with a superstar backup striker. I guess Jesus at City is the closest thing. That’s because top notch strikers don’t want to sit on the bench behind other top notch strikers. Every year there is clamoring for some big name backup we’ll its never gonna happen. You either go with on older veteran (Llorente) or youth (Parrot) as those are the only players that will be happy playing second fiddle. So we have both plus Son and Moura that’s a pretty damn good 5 strikers that most squads would kill for.

Third he likes it here and is liked here. No adjustment needed

Fourth he brings something different when we’re chasing a goal just throwing it in to big man works sometimes that simple hold up flick to Dele who fed Moura in the 96th minute of the fucking CL semifinal was Llorente without him that play doesn’t happen.

There is nothing to lose in the signing of Llorente

Kane Son Moura and Parrott is enough for me, can put Nando's wages (and squad place) to better use imo.

We already 'got that' - Parrott.

We've seen what he can do now. As I said earlier, Llorente provides excellent cover and mentoring for him while he has a bit of time to settle into the senior squad.

Kane and Son provide better mentorship for the type of player Parott is. We have no need for Llorente at all now, let’s keep a squad place and the wages free. If Llorente is to keep playing he need to see out his career somewhere he will actually play.

Whilst I today get the logic of waiting to see how the window plays out before committing to resigning FL, I’m quite concerned about his fitness if we do sign him.

Unless we’re secretly putting him through pre season, if we do get him back in toward the end of the window, imagine he’ll be pretty undercooked, even if he is doing some general fitness work. At 34/35 it’ll be pretty hard to play catch up also. Just seems odd as we’ve just been radio silent on him since the CL final!

Personally I like the idea of having Son as back up to Harry. I think his game allows for that transition and flexibility. Having said that Nando offered us something different and was effective on numerous occasions - his contribution to the CL run was vital. Now if the boss thinks Troy can offer that to us and is ready to be that other option then fine but if not I really don’t see this as a bad move at all. Even if all we are asking is between 15-20 odd games I think again he will be effective.
Having said that Troy does look like something to be very excited about ...
