The best thing about the Bale interview with Crouchy is that every answer was a week when he referred to the club.

not spurs, not them, but we... he really is back home as it was very natural answers.

His first words were literally talking about being in an environment where he feels loved. He isn't going back there. I genuinely think having an ex teammate in Crouch helped it as well. Having that friend to conduct the interview was an extra touch of positivity.

He really was. He was a decent player and he was lethal when he had Teddy alongside him. But then everyone was.

The Goat saying ( he’s right I’m sure) that the club saw these two signings as opportunist, I find strange. The buzz Bale has created and also Reguilon being high end in a position we could definitely improve on will probably be seen as master strokes by the end of the season . We’ve gone from looking tired and stale even though we have excellent and in some places world class players to looking like we have a title challenging side and squad full of excitement. These signings get an extra 20% out of the squad that’s already there. Keeps everyone on their toes and freshens everything up to such an extent that buying the odd player to improve and do a job can never do. Football is about excitement for the players as well as the fans. It’ll even get the press and media on side and although that could mean not much it actually does because players read and watch it and believe what they read and watch. The lack of ambition and all that crap. I can see us doing great things this season.

As a club, we follow the careers of certain players that we feel would do a job at the club.
It's long been said that, should any of those players become available at a good price, we will swoop in.
Bergwijn was one of those, Bale and Reguilon are another two.
That's what's meant by 'opportunistic'.
There will be plenty of others that we've been tracking too.
One thing about Levy is that if the right player, ie someone the club has identified, becomes available, he will try and sign them.
It doesn't always work, like De Jong but the money's always been there for these types of deals.
It's what's always been referred to as "our special over-draft".
