Well we really wouldn't need replacements for Dier and Wanyama in midfield. Our depth would be ideal since they are all interchangeable. We would be getting rid of our more one dimensional players for significantly more versatile ones in the midfield.

Ceballos / Winks
Ndombele / Sissoko
Lo Celso / Alli

Plus Skipp if he is needed.

As for the price of our players I rather underestimate prices than overestimate. The numbers would be in worse case scenario and to show that even then we wouldn't be that much of a net spend.

None of those do what Wanyama and Dier do they are proper DM`s so they should remain as options. We need flexibility in the squad to give us a variety of ways of playing...

I thought he was really good in that season he played right of a 3CB. Not so sure in a 2 man partnership. I believe Poch said in his book he sees that as his best position long term.

Unfortunately he’s stagnated badly since Poch wrote his book

I think we can afford to lose one of them now we’ve signed Ndombele. Looks like he has the disciple and ability to play as a DM if required.

If you read reports from journos who watched him in Ligue 1 they all say he has to learn more defensively... indeed Poch is reported to have told him this when they met. Personally I feel we need to retain a variety of options if we are going to challenge for the top prizes. Obviously we need Dier and Wanyama to get back to top form.

We could gain a long term benefit from using the 6th CM / 2cnd DM minutes to develop Skipp and/or Foyth. Wanyama will presumably never develop in value again, and even one more season at his best is an optimistic playing contribution from him.

Also Lo Celso was apparently very good at DM for PSG.

One of the criticisms of Ndombele was that he loses concentration in defensive situations. How true that is I have no idea but I wouldn't put him forward as a DM option just yet. LoCelso seems a better choice although it's not his primary function.

He played alongside Aouar at Lyon who was the defensive partner. I think with us if we need more steel we’ll play him with Sissoko but that means leaving out one of 2-3 expected starters or against opponents where we will dominate the ball he’ll play with both Lo Celso and Ceballos subject to signing them both. The one player who’s spot is in jeopardy is Alli as 1) he was poor last season, 2) if we’re shifting to a 433 he doesn’t really fit into it.
