Poch system seems to be based on defence and the counter and winning the ball back blocking the lanes etc but that may have talken us as far as it could. Its possible he will switch now to a more proactive game with the players he is buying/targets etc. So instead of giving the opposition the ball and then choking them in,we will take more of a Liverpool type stance and play positive attack based footie. This also takes the pressure of the defence.

I like the sound of that. I hope you're right.

It looks that way as long as Poch doesn't want Ndombele to play a bit more conservative. If he plays open which is looks great at we will be changing the style but of course he was played as a DM by Lyon recently. I hope we will switch to a more proactive game,we should and we can. Cant stand these last minute equalizers etc after a mediocre game

I assumed we'd go for the Ceballos loan first and then Lo Celso if Eriksen went, now it's probably the other way around (which is ideal as I prefer GLC). Levy backing Poch big time if it happens.

That said if there was ever a time for the club to spend it's probably now, wages will take a while to catch up with our revenue growth so there should be decent scope for transfer instalments.

Even more so if naming rights are close and will cover a big chunk of the annual stadium repayments.

it actually makes much more sense, we buy a player as we need to strenghten squad, Eriksen's most likely destination is Madrid anyway so if they wanna get him we'll just ask for cash and Ceballos

It does if you don't subscribe to the notion that we need to sell Eriksen to afford Lo Celso. I'm currently torn on this.

I keep saying this and keep getting shot down for not believing. I always presumed Eriksen/GLC fit one for one on price and starting place, whilst the second cheaper option (Ceballos or whoever) is the one we should chase down regardless.

However, I think this may be the new Tottenham. If Poch wants GLC to replace Eriksen, whether it be now or seasons end, we sign him and worry later. Don't bother waiting til next summer when he may be less attainable and our need is greater.

Ndombele cost £54Mil and Lo Celso might cost £60Mil for a total of £114Mil. If we also get Ceballos as part of our Eriksen(£30Mil) transfer to them I am almost certain we end up selling Wanyama(£10Mil) and Lamela(£20Mil), with an good chance of Dier(£25Mil) as well. We would recoup a very good chunk and have a net spend of about £29Mil on a completely rebuilt midfield, which is quite cheap if you ask me, considering the ability and potential we are getting.

That'd leave us short though I think as

Dembele replaced by Ndombele
Lamela replaced by Lo Celso
Eriksen replaced by Ceballos
Dier and Wanyama gone with no replacements.

I think we would need to keep one of Dier/Wanyama. My preference would be Dier on the off chance we lose Alder and he can be a utility player.

I do think we can afford to have a significant net spend this summer to be fair, even pushing the £100m mark, simply because this is clearly a refresh summer and we have significant revenue increases to offset against increased transfer instalments and wages. Future windows will be more evolution than revolution (look at LFC this summer).

Whether I believe this net spend will happen is another thing, but signing Ndombele in early July is a cracking start!

Yeah he is highly regarded, despite his weaknesses and played in the right team and the right position he would still be a prize buy. Nearer £50-£60m in my opinion.
Lol now you’re gonna say £25m is too much
?

No way will we sell all of dier wanyama Lamela and eriksen .

Dier will be kept as he could end up playing games in defence. Wanyama if he passes a medical and eriksen with maybe a loan for marsh or skipp. Poch loves Lamela I think he will be here for 1 more season

Agree, don't see Dier going anywhere.

Poch has said he sees Dier as a CB long term. Dier himself must realise he will not get many minutes with Sissoko, NDombele and Winks fighting over CM. I would not be surprised if he left (£40-50m to someone like Man U), or to stay and be Toby’s replacement at CB. Once he gets a dozen games at CB we’ll see how good he can be.
