I won't pass judgement until our transfer window has closed and we either have or haven't completed the Lo Celso deal.

If we have: fantastic, happy days, well done Tottenham!

If we haven't, then I won't be able to reach any conclusion other than that Spurs didn't do enough to make the deal happen rather than it being Betis' fault. Barcelona already have done business with them this window and Cardiff look like they're just about to do the same, so if we end up being the club who couldn't make a deal happen with them I think it will say more about the offer(s) we made rather than any underhand shenanigans by Betis.
You mean we wouldn't pay in the way they wanted rather than we wouldn't pay them at all, right?

I don't know. Like I say, if we do get past the English transfer deadline and Barcelona and Cardiff have done deals with Betis and we haven't, then regardless of the granular details I don't see how we'd be able to conclude that Betis were more of a hindrance to a failed Lo Celso deal than we were.

Think it's Palace (loan) but that's been rumbling for a good week or so and Barca rolled for a good two weeks.

By the sounds of it, just going on the back of information passed on by two different itk, it's not to do with us agreeing a fee, it's to do with how they want that fee paid. Obviously down to the reader if they want to believe.

All feels very Moutinho to me and I remember that ended horribly.

Almost completely agree here, but it should be noted that GLC has an impressive number of sell-on clauses, even for a South American player. I know we’ve all heard the excuses and I’m not saying this to fully excuse a failure, but it makes these negotiations different from the other work Betis has done this window

Yeah of course, pinch of salt taken, but as @wakefieldyid says this story is picking up momentum and I'd imagine journos are getting more noise from their sources as this gains pace. Can see the others picking up on this as the day goes on

I won’t pass judgement but my judgement is that if we don’t get this done then it must be all Levy’s fault.

I like what you did there.

How is it picking up momentum with the Spanish press saying it's off? Our own fans don't even believe we've offered the right kind of money and you yourself have agreed with this point of view not four posts ago?

It's like the twilight zone in here sometimes.

I still hope that we will do the deal and said I'd be really happy if we did. Is that passing judgement too?

I don't see what you were doing there.

I haven't seen the spanish press reports, only gone off our own and the fact he didn't play last night. I didn't agree we hadn't offered the right kind of money as that wasn't mentioned, that was your interpretation of his post not mine (y)

They are two pages back hence the scepticism in here. It's quite literally what he is saying. (y)

2 pages now? I looked 2, 3 4 pages back and I've not rated anything so not sure what you're talking about now? You said 4 posts, which would've been @scat1620 post which is more about our dealings with Bettis compared to Barca and Cardiff (Which you then corrected as being Palace), it doesn't "literally" say we haven't offered the right money at all

I'd take a look 4 pages back again if I were you.

As for Scat, he is literally saying (baring the transfer not happening, and he hopes it does happen, obvs!) it's us not paying up for Lo Celso and nothing to do with anything under handed by Betis. Pretty clear bud. (y)

So Le Celso is off, Betis have broken off talks with us and we're now left in limbo, what a time to be alive as a Spurs fan!

The deals with those two clubs have been much smaller though, say if betis want 50% of it paid outright straight away, for Barcelona it would be something like €9m, that’s not going to effect for any other deals really and the loan for palace would be pittence. For us to pay 50% up right would be between €30-35m, that could be far to much for us to be able to afford our other targets.
