Given how we have seen that in possession we turn into a 3-2-5, I’m confident that having 3 outstanding defenders allows Ndombele n Lo Celso to play as a 2 in CM.

Also because if either of these 2 drive forward and they can do this very well, any of the front 5 would be wise and fluid enough to just hold / cover their positions temporarily.

There's no reason why we can't set up 433 if we need a bit more defensive cover with a specialist DM with Ndombele and Lo Celso either side. Then, the DM does the holding job while either one of Ndombele or Lo Celso can drive forward from midfield while the other one stays a bit deeper. I can see a CM2 of TN and GLC working if we're dominating the opposition though.

If we continue pushing the right back forward and tucking the left back inside I think he could very well replace Moura. The width will come from right back with Lo Celso tucking in, Son would offer the width on the left and Alli tends to play more in from the left. In time I could see the current setup with the following players..

Aurier----Sanchez----Alderweireld----Vertonghen
Ndombele----Dier
Lo Celso----Alli----Son
Kane

Opens out like

Sanchez----Alderweireld----Vertonghen
Ndombele----Dier
Aurier----Lo Celso----Alli----Son
Kane

What the fuck is going on with GLC? According to informed pundits, he's one of the most highly rated young midfielders in the world. Yet he's only getting a couple of minutes at the end of the game.

Most teams in the PL would kill for a signing like him, but for whatever reason we spent all that time signing him and aren't playing him.

He must either be awful in training, or Mourinho sees him as a loanee first and foremost. I wish Poch had started him in games so he had a chance to show what he can do.

We signed him injured. He then got injured again. Jose has been in charge for just over a week now. The guy needs time.

Or... I could be wrong but, he was coming back from a serious injury and our team of physio's don't want to fuck him up for the rest of the season when we are playing perfectly good football and have a high Calibre of starting players, not to mention we have an option to buy so if we truly want him, we may be looking at he long term impact and timing off recovery?

Could be wrong though...

Probably, I'm just a bit frustrated that we waited ages for a midfielder like him and we're a third into the season without seeing him for more than a few minutes.
It's very understandable though. He came back late in the summer, he played a few then got injured.

Jose needs to wait until this team is settled before introducing him, confidence needs to be high too.

It's a shame we don't have the league cup as we could have gave him some starts

Also think he'll get his chance. I just think Mourinho is going with tried and trusted EPL experienced players where he can at the moment. Probably keen to claw ourselves up the league and get ourselves in contention for the CL places as quick as possible. Son, Alli, Kane have played with each other a long time now so probably more fluidity in the attacking third with them but with a busy period coming up, sure we'll see more of GLC. Eriksen looks done and just hope someone offers something acceptable in January and we can shift him although gut feeling is he'll sign a pre contract with a team abroad.

I guess you're right, but he's a £50m+ player, he should be playing in the league and CL, not the league cup. It's not like he's some unknown youth prospect.

How much he cost is irrelevant. What he shows in training is what matters. If there are players showing more than him in training, they deserve to play.

On the bright side, he came on instead of Eriksen today.;)

Mourinho has probably watched and analyzed literally hundreds and hundreds of hours of tape on Dele, Kane, Dier, Son etc. It’s not crazy to think that he has a better idea of what these players are capable of and what tactical instruction they need to be at their best. Surely he knows who Lo Celso is and what he is capable of, but its perfectly reasonable for him to want to get a better feel for his game before throwing him to the wolves. Not to mention, Jose will know how important it is to have the “core” players, the veteran leadership, buy into him and his plan and while GLC may become one of our stars, he is still very much the new guy. The panicking is a touch overblown; he will get his chances before long.
