Not seen anything from him yet that makes me want us to spend the fee they want.

Happy for him to go back on what i have seen so far.

Will see how he goes for rest of season, but so far not impressed

I'm more frustrated than anything - there's clearly a quality player in there and I'm desperate for him to be given a run. The same goes for N'Dombele!

From what I can see, neither the coach who signed him or the coach who replaced the previous seem all to eager to play him.

Settling in is one thing... Mind you, TN seems to have his own issues.

The oddest introduction to a pair of highly touted players I can ever remember.

Is there really a discussion happening about when to buy our loanee so we can sell him?

My opinion, everyone was getting a bit too ahead of themselves expecting him to be thrown in, and there’s a bit too much overreaction based on 1 start. How about we just see how he does over the season? If he’s good and impresses Jose, he’ll play, if not, he won’t.

Not sure what else people really wanted him to do?

He worked hard (lacking match fitness as he’s hardly played), he played a good part in our goal and created another couple of openings and generally did ok on the ball.

He couldn’t get in the game enough because we had absolutely no control or foothold in the game in CM, which limited what he could do. We also had a very mixed (weaker) team out with no real cohesion.

Had a feeling this would happen too. Gets a small chance in a weaker team with zero control or presence in the game and because he subsequently fails to get in the game enough he gets given poor reviews.

We have to remember that some of the players tonight have hardly featured and so will be short of match sharpness and fitness. And we were away to pretty much Bayern’s first team bar Lewandowski and Alaba.

Also, for anyone interested, Lo Celso's defensive stats compared to fellow AMs Sessegnon and Eriksen last night:

Maybe we learned Lo Celso shouldn’t play on the right. Play him centrally and he might rack up better stats.

Who knows.

But there's plenty of players in the central park atm so I reckon Mourinho will have to change his system if he wants to get the max out of his current players.

I'd like to see:

--- NEW DM ---
Ndombele - Alli/Eriksen/Lo Celso/Winks
NEW RW ----------- Son
--- Kane ---

From the little I've seen Lo Celso is a central player he has that robust Argentinian way. Pair him with Ndombele and our midfield transforms.

Which means a three man midfield unless we go with no dm, that means moving Dele from the 10 slot.

Dele is more flexible than people make out, if we move to a 3 and employ a DM we certainly will need attacking wingback on both sides.

Well I assume he's been asked where he wants to play. He's doing great where he is and seems to be enjoying himself again, I see no need to now move him to the wing to fit in someone else. All depends what Jose has planned of course.

Moving Dele to a 3 man CM just to accommodate GLC is a massive mistake and reduces the effectiveness of one of our absolute key players. Dele needs to be pretty much up top with Kane.

I agree. It is now pretty obvious that Dele needs to play more of a striker than a midfielder.
There is still a chance for Dele to keep that role and push Lo Celso in. For example if we go back to more of a 3-5-2 like:

-----------------------Gazza---------------------------
-----------Sanchez--Toby--------------Jan---------
--Aurier-------------Dier/new DM--------------------
-----------Lo Celso----------Ndombele-----Son-----
----------------Kane--------Dele----------------------

Would look a bit more natural with someone like Sess a bit more defensive than Sonny but he is obvious a guarantueed starter if fit.

This selection would probably be fine against the shit teams, it's not something that could be implemented week in, week out. Teams would soon figure out that they can exploit us down the flanks and it would be a massive lop-sided mess.

Far to much work for the DM to do imo. Would get overrun.

From what we've seen of him so far, I think we can all agree that he doesn't look particularly comfortable out wide, i'd much prefer to see him try on the Eriksen role or, as suggested by others, have him play in behind the striker where Dele seems to hang out a lot.

Against Munich he looked frustrated at having to keep coming wide - whether that was by design from Bayern in response to our formation or what, no idea, not seen enough of him to be that sure, but I'd like to see him in front of HMS Sissoko and Winksy for a half an hour at least.

It would be fine against crap teams where we dominate the ball. But then Dier looked decent against Burnley in much the same circumstances.

It's when you play against someone who controls the ball, then it's a problem. A lot of spaces to exploit, especially down the flanks - then your centre backs get dragged into full back positions - goals galore for the opposition.

I’m not so sure I agree with this. Dele is in fine form no doubt but his presence lingering up top exposes our already severely limited central midfield. We’ve started scoring more but we’re also conceding loads as well.

I’d like to see the below formation to see if it might accommodate the best of both worlds.

Son Kane Dele
Ndombele GLC
DM
Jan Toby Sanchez Aurier

Obviously with Aurier advanced as usual and Dele tucked in rather than wide right.
