I still think we'll see him back to his best when Alli is back to his best

People forget that they barely played together for a run of more than about 5 games last season. Add in Eriksen and Son to complete the DESK and I think they only played something like 7 games together all season. The first one being when we absolutely battered Chelsea. That was in bloody November! So we went 3 months into the season without our first choice front 4.

That was a lovely goal - he hits it better now than he ever did - but he didn't travel that far with it.

Don't misunderstand me, he's still great. I just thought he was (marginally) more effective when he was a bit more evasive and daring

I've seen him run with the ball like that recently, he had a couple of runs against Inter if I recall where he ran and went past players, don't really see a massive difference in that aspect of his game personally, if anything that's probably improved.

Where he has lost his spark is that he's lost a bit of pace and his reactions aren't what they used to be but he's improved as a player ten fold.

Looking at Bale now, Kane seems to model after him in bulking up and improving his techniques.

But Bale gets better, even at his 30s now. Yet Kane progress has stalled and he plays like he's in his 30s labouring.

Sad.

We are not playing to Kanes strengths... I dont understand how we can have a top goalscorer and instead we want him and force him to drop deep to the half way line.

wait, he's got 4 goals in 6 games, right?
He clearly isn’t playing all that well. He’s been non existent for large parts of games.

Queue everyone rolling their eyes but 2 non penalties in 6 games? Are we really going to brag about that.

Are we though? Or is he simply slowing down and dropping deeper because of the amount of virtually non stop high level football he’s played in such a short space of time, together with several ankle injuries?

I think a lot a Spurs fans and impartial observers thought he had the ability to play a deeper, almost Teddy like role later in his career, but I didn’t envisage it at the age of 26.

I’m in no way slating Harry here. He’s easily our best player and in a way I hope it is tactical as although I think it a wrong move, the alternative that it’s what I’ve described above makes me a little sad.

To protect his ankle he can be asked not to press as much thats fine or even not to tackle which is also fine. I genuinely think he is either searching for the ball because he isnt getting it or we are asking him to drop deep so that the likes of Moura and Dele can run ahead of him in the space available. But whats the point when Harry being right up top creates space for the creative players which then means Harry getting in on the goals.

He can play deeper but he is at/approaching his peak - why would he want to be the deep lying play maker at this stage, he can do that at 33.

I mentioned this in the thread about the style of play but Poch has been overthinking and tinkering too much making things more complicated that it is which in turn has affected Kane...

I dont care if he trips over the ball and accidentally knocks it in with his ass if he keeps scoring. The guy has been money for 5 straight seasons.

Yeah I totally agree. Hence why I said I hope it isn’t because he’s worried about burning out.

Seems to have followed the same pattern as with his England role. Dropping deep to feed quicker runners beyond him. Thing is, it made sense for England in a way due a complete lack to creativity available in midfield, but we shouldn’t have that excuse at Spurs.

Fact is he’s both our best passer of the ball and the best finisher. Shame he can’t pass to himself :D

A top striker still needs service , and he did rattle the bar late on .. he isn’t shooting enough like he used to
