Rival fans tend to only have begrudged respect for Kane that he has to force out of them with goals, and they’re all too quick and ready to leap back onto him. He won’t be truly appreciated until he retires imo at least by the masses
Its mainly younger fans 30 or below who don't appreciate him from my experience.
The tribalism that's taken over football in the last decade or two has changed supporting culture I think.
It used to be you hate your local rival and afford them no credit whatsoever...nowadays fans seem to hate every other team and afford them no credit whatsoever.

Nah it's always existed between the top teams. If we were a top 6 club still then everyone would happily rate him and want to sign him.

Because we're a top 3 club getting to CL finals, he cops flak.

He's been copping flak since he bust onto the scene...remember the one season wonder jibes, then there was the blame for Euro 2016, then the diving accusations, the claim goal etc..

It's to do with tribalism, it's just gotten worse with the popularity of social media.

Disagree mate.
I think deep down most of them do rate him, and want to sign him, it's just unfashionable to admit for the younger generation of football fans...they have to be seen to hate everyone but their own.

You'd seriously have to be an idiot to not rate Kane, but some would rather risk that rather than publicly offering him praise.
Its quite sad.

I wonder how much the ankle injuries have actually forced him to change his game or affected his physical abilities; or whether he's just evolving as a player. Maybe it's a bit of both.

To be honest, I seem to remember United fans being ****s to Shearer for the majority of his career because he turned them down once. It just wasn't as obvious or immediate because, well, social media.

Just putting it out there as Kane seems immune to being digged out by many on here but he was just as shit as the rest of them today.

I understand the amount of times he’s saved us in the past and that he can’t do it all alone but he needs to look in the mirror just as much as the others. He’s the captain now and we need more from him.

He’s not immune from criticism, but it’s a collective issue. It just doesn’t seem like many in the team can be bothered. Probably because their manager has spent the last year threatening to leave.

I think it all just escalated from that. If some aren’t pulling their weight, why should others pull their weight, and so on. There’s no sense of a collective desire to win.

He was awful today. No movement, no tracking back, no losing the man and no link up play. We were better off leaving Lucas on instead of him. No player should be undroppable.

Well he's not immune from criticism here, it's just very much discouraged - I got the neg rep to prove it, ha ha!

A little hypothetical for you guys: If you take away the reputation and consider Kane as a new player starting from the past year or so you would be saying to yourself something like 'Well he shoots very nicely with both feet, some nice long range passing and crossing even, but he's got poor touch, poor ball control, can't dribble and has little or no speed/athletisism' ... Basically then, in fairness, not good enough for spurs.

Isn't it only right to judge on form, not reputation? He is the one constant in this absolutely dire spurs team. If he can walk without crutches, he plays 90. Every other player has been dropped/rotated except him. I don't think Poch actually has the balls, or authority?, to drop him. It could trigger a crash in the Harry Kane shareprice, and infuriate the owners. They probably once thought they had a £200 million asset on their hands, after all.

Sadly today was almost a new low for him... Very little running off the ball or ground covered. Poor first touch. Poor in the air - many crosses into the box but never once looked like getting his head on it. He's not even the aerial presence he once was. At the beginning of the second half he played deep for a while with Son and Moura up top, until Moura was taken off (despite being the brightest thing in an absolutely turgid first half). This position might work for him against 2019 Bulgaria, but in a hotly contested area of the pitch, you need tight ball control, the ability to disguise your intentions and be able buy yourself time to pick and execute passes over the top, or he will be thwarted just as his strikes on goal are.

There are so many other problems in this spurs team, I get it, but we must find out how we play with Kane on the bench. Something has to change.

Yes he was very similar to the blind spot many have for Winks
Is hilarious, people underrated Carrick, who was 5 times the player Winks is, and the same people overrate
Winks.
People just make excuse after excuse to try and justify what Winks brings to us, but cannot put their finger on it to justify it, so then come up with silly phrases like he is our metronome, our Busquets, our Xavi, whereas in reality he is our Mason reincarnated, and whenever challenged about those silly comments, just say he is not in the team for that reason or that reason (attacking or defensive duties) and it is everybody else’s fault that Winks had a bad game (continual theme), and then have the gall to say you don’t understand football if you don’t see what Winks brings.
Well guess what I do understand football, have been involved in it at the highest level, and see that our midfield has gone to pot since he has been in it, we no longer protect the defence, and no longer move the ball through the lines quickly, but hey I guess that is everyone else’s fault, and we always seem do better in games after we substitute him off.
Maybe because he is own of our own, and runs about a bit, that is the only thing I can put on it.

Was watching him today when crosses come in he barely makes an effort to jump. Not scored a header in PL for over a year. Used to score them regularly very odd.

Lack of mobility.

Simple fact is defenders are now first to most things, the goals he's got recently are when the ball has fortuitously dropped to him or we've countered on teams with space.

You can say he was never quick all you like, but if Teddy Sheringham (at his peak) lost half a yard it would still have negatively affected his game

Well standing still behind 2 centre halves doesn’t help. Seem to recall a lot of his goals were from the front post beating his man. He literally stands hiding behind any opposing player he can find. Wtf has happened to everyone?

I can't believe people are criticising Kane and not putting two and two together and realising the reason he amongst others is playing so poorly is because of the mess Poch has created of the team, formation, tactics and coaching. The way things are right now, it makes it practically impossible for any player to perform.

I wonder if the same people who criticise Kane, are also Poch IN?! Because that would be extremely ridiculous.

Something something agenda...

Both Winks and Kane work great for England .. just a few days ago as well.
Winks need the midfield to be balanced so his flaws aren't exposed, people also need to be aware of his creative limitations. Kane arguably need a new role, played to the strengths of he type of player he is in 2019.

He looks so disinterested. I think its quite evident even kane has had enough of Poch.

I am not justifying his performances but he is clearly not happy with his boss.

Erm it may because Kane is world class and I’ve seen Winks have about 5 proper good games in a Spurs shirt. Ffs how did that need explaining to you?
Don't you get bored of contradicting yourself so much?, you're an actual shambles
