Leaving this here too:

"Harry Kane has scored six goals in his first three World Cup appearances for England – only three players have scored more in their first three matches; Hungary’s Sandor Kocsis (9), Germany’s Gerd Muller (7) and Argentina’s Guillermo Stabile (7)."

I'm pretty sure his calf went in the last 20 minutes of the second half and he still played on and absolutely buried that penalty. What a player. It's unbelievable our academy helped to produce this guy. Buzzing for not only the rest of this world cup, but next season!

I can't remember a player that was so well liked by other teams fans as our Harry. Absolute class act and we are so lucky to have him. A once in a generation player

Genuine question: what would it take for Harry to win Ballon d'or this year? Does he have to win it or would his record this season, plus maybe a semi-final and golden ball at the World Cup, be enough to put him up there?

HERO and the total envy of fans of every other Club in the Land!
And no doubt there are some other clubs fans waiting for him to fail at some point and when we eventually go out it they'll come out of the woodwork and blame him and Spurs in general. Some of them on Rawk and Red Cafe are probably hating this success at the moment, sadly.

He'd have to be called Ronaldo or Messi. They don't hand it out to anyone else do they?

Come on. We've had posts on here tonight from people wanting Henderson to miss his penalty.

Wining it and getting the golden boot would certainly help his case.

Not much chance. It will come down to who won the most between Messi and Ronaldo but it will be close between them. Either the La Liga and Copa Del Rey winner who scored more than anyone in the major leagues. Or the player who had a better World Cup with 4 goals and won Champions League withthe most goals in that competition. I think Messi will get it this time.

Kane has to win more to get it. I dont even think a World Cup alone would be enough for him. He will need to win something big with Spurs at least to get there. I do think a couple of years down the line he has a great chance though. He's in line to be the first to win it after the Messi and Ronaldo dominance. I do think FIFA will favour the Brazilian Neymar though. It will be hard for an English player to get it.

I’m reality I think it’s fear of losing and they’d prefer it was himthat missed rather than Spurs.

Yeah probably. But i'm sure if it was Liverpool players making up the England squad, they'd be plenty on here wishing failure. It's just the usual internet tribalism bullshit that every team's fans are guilty of. Anyway, don't want to spam up Sir Harry Kane's thread with it so I'll leave it there.

In tournament year, performance there counts alot to win it. With Ronaldo and Messi going out early, I think he's in with a good chance if he play a final and become top scorer in the World Cup.

He would need to clean up to be in with a chance. Winner, golden ball and boot. Then he would need to carry on his scoring exploits, scoring every week right up until whenever the vote is (December time?)

He dropped far too deep in the second half.

What's so weird about that statement? He did drop far too deep IMO in the second half, I would've liked him to be more involved in the final third, especially on the breaks. It's not a judgement on his overall performance, which was very good.
