I think in that front 3 you need goal threats. That means Alli and not Lamela. If Winks can learn the defensive positioning I think he could be a top deep playmaker like Pirlo but that's a real weak area

Balance complimented with pace is the most effective route.

To get the best out of Winks he needs be alongside another CM whom can also pass and move the ball quickly eg not Sissoko. I’d like to see Poch or post Poch go with a central midfield 3 of:

Lo Celso........ Winks .......... Ndombele

Winks - calm in possession, good passing
Lo Celso - energetic, hardworking, intricate passing, creative
Ndombele - skill, pace, power, progressive ball movement, creative

Then a front 3 of:

Son................ Kane .............. Sessegnon

Balance, pace, skill, creativity, finishing.

We would be ripped to shreds, the thing this team needs more than anything is a defensive midfielder.

I’ll stick to the fan boys tbh ! They seem to like to abuse or mock anyone who try’s to say winks isn’t pirlo reincarnated so I’ll stick to using it. Why would anyone bother particularly when you use throw around some childish term and you're putting up straw men, I'd love to see where people have compared him to Pirlo...that's right no one has, you're just using that argument because it suits your petty agenda. You could have left out half the nonsense you wrote in your post and I'm pretty sure people wouldn't have reacted.

There's some pretty balanced posts in here, you seem like you're bored so fell free to go through the thread, in fact here's one:

I like his attitude, his work rate, the fact he clearly gives a shit. I love that he always shows for the ball and never hides, he also gives his all in every single game.

I think he's a very decent passer of the ball and keeps us ticking over when it's going well. I think he's technically sound without perhaps setting the world alight with Pirlo free kicks or Eriksen 40 yard passes to find an unmarked Kane.

I don't think we need to build a team around him but I do think we need to make the best of the talent we have available to us. With that in mind I think he would work better with someone more defensively minded next to him - Dier would probably be best with what we have available to us at the moment - not Sissoko. If that isn't possible then I'd like to see him next to Ndombele as I think Winks' work-rate coupled with Ndombele's telescopic legs might be enough.

I think he'd work best in a 3 man midfield, but at the moment the other two have been Sissoko and one of Dele or Eriksen, now with the talent of the former and the "form" of the last two it seems a bit harsh to pick out Winks as the weak link.

None of this means that I think Winks is the complete footballer or that Real Madrid will be looking at him as Modric's replacement but in a whole host of problems I don't think Winks even makes the shit list at the moment!

I don't see why our fans need to act like complete dicks when it comes to our players, you're not the first one and unfortunately won't be the last.
