Pochettino clearly doesn’t rate Whiteman he didn’t give him a single minute in pre season. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Vorm on a 3 month contract.

It would make sense, but when did that apply to us?

Reports today that we have resigned Vorm until the end of the year.

NOS FOOTBALL • TODAY, 1:04 PM
Goalkeeper Vorm returns to Spurs due to injury Lloris
Michel Vorm returns to Tottenham Hotspur. The almost 36-year-old goalkeeper has been recalled, because first keeper Hugo Lloris van de Spurs has been eliminated for a long time due to an arm injury. Vorm has signed until the end of the season.
Vorm, fifteen-fold international, was not offered a new contract with the London club last summer after five seasons. He played 47 times for the Champions League finalist in all competitions, but was mainly sentenced to a role as reserve keeper. The last seasons was that behind Lloris.
Elbow from the bowl
The goalkeeper of world champion France was severely injured last Saturday in the 3-0 lost away match of the Spurs against Brighton & Hove Albion.
He fell back in the goal with a half-hearted rescue. In an attempt to break his fall, Lloris ended up so unhappy that his left elbow shot. The goalkeeper will not even be able to train this calendar year.

That would be a good move. Gazzaniga’s form of last season isnt being replicated and he’s come back to earth and then some this year. He isnt good enough and honestly, I’d almost be more comfortable with Vorm there until Hugo gets back.

Whiteman and Austin should have been loaned out to begin with. Our strategy with our youth players is just incoherent. It stunts growth. Players need game time. Not just first team training time

What a joke. Brandon Austin was just called up to the under 21s squad but isn’t seen good enough to be third choice here.

Who is in charge of transfers at this place. It’s a farce.

Is it really that big of a deal? we got Vorm out which opened up a non-hg spot which all of us were complaining about prior, 3rd goalkeepers are seldom called upon so we gave the spot to a young player but given that we have now lost a keeper due to a freak accident we have been able to easily call upon an experienced keeper who knows how we operate to come in. Hell for all we know Austin might still be number 2 whilst Hugo is out but we've got Vorm to come in and cover him.

Sure youth experts will back me up. From the age of 18 ‘ish’ upwards, our young keepers not good enough.

Interesting... what’s the stance with De Bie and Solberg? Although likely a one off, look at Milan giving a keeper a debut at 16, a now well respected and highly thought of keeper.

It’s baffling how Vorm (error prone) was released but not replaced, Gazzaniga who was deemed not good enough to be a number 2 but is now the number 2 and currently covering for Lloris despite also being error prone, and our actual number one has been in decline for the last couple of years... yet the club to date hasn’t done anything to rectify this.

De Bie and Solberg are highly rated. I haven’t seen enough to give a view.

Don't see what the issue is with bringing back Vorm? It was pointless paying him 40k-50k a week to be third choice and so right to release him initially but now he'll clearly be second choice for a large part of this season. If Gazzaniga gets injured or starts throwing balls into his own net and the young keepers aren't good enough then it's a no brainer.

The issue is that he’s not good enough and was/is error prone. Gazza and Vorm alike give people the jitters when they play as neither of them ooze confidence = our already fragile defence continuing to have the jitters.

Nobody we could get now would be good enough. Agreed we need a keeper. None of them are good enough including Lloris but not a lot we can do about it until January or next summer. In the meantime, I fail to see an obvious better option than Vorm.

The problem is really that we don't know if they are good enough, NONE of them have any competitive experience. As it stands, yes neither Whiteman nor Austin are capable of being thrown into the first team, but is that due to their ability, or due to the fact they've only played sporadic youth football with no first team experience?

Seriously don't understand why we don't secure loans for these players so that we can see them tested in a difficult, competitive environment. Immediately think of Joe Hart's breakthrough coming due to his loan season at Birmingham (after a couple of other loan stints).

I'd love to see the club appoint someone in a position who's job is to solely secure appropriate loans for youth players and monitor them while on loan. Actually give some thought into finding the right clubs, i.e. no Ryan Mason to Lorient loans, Onomah to work under Steve Bruce etc. I thought we might be getting that when Sam Shashoua and Georgiou went to Spain, as it seemed a good fit. Albeit a lower quality league, but a technical league suiting their skill sets. Alas the loans this season show no progress.

And Lloris doesn't?
