Lloris is only marginally better than Gazzaniga, neither are good enough to be the first choice keeper. I hope the scouting department is on the lookout for a new keeper in the summer.

Apologies if it’s hidden elsewhere on here but is there any update on when he’s likely to be back? Got to be a fundamental part of sorting our defence out

I hope he comes back and has recovered well. We could do without having to replace him as well in the summer.

If everyone thinks Lloris is the answer to save all our defensive problems then you are in for a rude awakening. He has no leadership qualities, so he certainly won’t be drilling the shit defence of ours and he was making just as much mistakes as Gazzaniga. Don’t get me wrong, he’s better than Gazzaniga, but not by much. Lloris coming Back will change nothing.

I am sure EVERYONE doesn't think he solves ALL of our defensive problems. We aren't the Borg with one hive mind.

Agree...not the answer to all our problems but certainly won’t hurt. Reorganising the defence has to start with GK. losing our first choice, World Cup winning captain can’t have helped.

Apart from, by your own logic, we will have a better goalkeeper in goal.

Who exactly are you referring to because no one has said that.
Welcome to the modern world. When having a debate with someone you disagree with you have two options:

1) listen to the points the person is making. They might have valid points or might be talking shit. You can then make your own points and time will tell which opinion was most correct.
2) you can not listen to the person's opinion and twist their words or in the extreme just assume what their point is and ridicule it. You think you are intelligent but actually you are a small-minded moron incapable of basic discussion.

The modern world is mostly option 2.

So many platforms for discussion but we're just incapable of it.

I know he is prone to an error these days, but you dont know football if you think Gazzaniga is anywhere near the keeper an ageing Lloris is, him being back in training is welcome news.

One positive with Jose’s apprenhension to playing around at the back is that we will probably see the best of Lloris and none of the worst.

I think Gazzaniga is a good goalkeeper, but not having Lloris for a few months shows what we get way too used to when he plays regularly. He covers for the defence multiple times a game, because he's so quick.

People have been going on and on about how our central defenders have slowed down, as if this is a sudden development. Sure, they're getting older, but what's sudden is that they don't have this mobile sweeper-character behind them. Lloris covers, I'd guess, about a 30%-40 larger area of the pitch than most keepers. His style of play enabled our high line under Pochettino and it's no coincidence that, without him, our defence keeps getting caught by players getting in behind.

It's what you don't even notice about Lloris when he's there that shows up his quality. In every match now, opponents get to balls that Lloris would have collected.

People tend to watch and remember errors with goalkeepers. An absence of errors is not what makes Lloris exceptional. Even his ability to make impressive saves is not what makes him exceptional. His speed of reaction off his line and his coverage of his area are what make him exceptional.

I'm hoping the break from football has been good for Hugo as i feel his decision making has been shot for some time, to the point where he is mainly a stay at home keeper now when he was pretty much the original premiership sweeper keeper. seems to second guess everything, which is not great in any position let alone one as important as keeper.

Here's hoping the rest has been good for him mentally too. ?
