looks like he just can’t cope with the intensity of the PL anymore. Shame as he has been a great servant to the club. Hopefully he goes and finishes his career at ajax

He was a rising defender and came to us, spent his prime with us through the years. I hope we support him right through the end of his time with us. Proper legend.
What’s crazy is that he killed Dortmund from full back ONLY ONE YEAR AGO.

Hit the feels seeing him like that tonight :(

Proper spurs too, could've played for anyone else the past few years but stuck with us.

Sad to see jan like that. Hes been a fantastic player for us. For all we go on about the relationships we have with our club and players, I think it's really sad that we rarely say goodbye to players, and they to us, in a way that befits the way they have served the club.

Jan has been one of our very best players for a long long time and I really hope that he gets the kind of send off that he deserves.

I also hope he realises just how much we appreciate him.
The biggest case of us not appreciating a fantastic servant and giving him a good farewell was Michael Dawson. He left just like that. Forever a legend in my eyes.

"It is easy for him to run. Physicality is his talent. It is genetic, it is his natural condition. He is an athlete. It is up to him but he could play until he is 40." Poch on Vertonghen, August 2019

You disappointed all of us, you 60,000 fans. This was the time to appreciate his contributions and you didnt do it.
To be fair, I had no idea he was emotional and feeling it all, until I got home. Just looked like a moody sub from up in the clouds.

I wish he could lift a trophy with us this year after all the years of service, we owe it to him

Could say that about alot of our great servants.
Been the greatest period in the club's history in this league in recent years but greats/former greats like Eriksen, rose, Hugo, Toby, Jan, Kane, Dele etc only have a couple loser medals and an Audi cup

While shite players like Phil Jones have a bunch of winners medals

saw his reaction on tv, said to my brother 'He looks like a guy who's just realised his place is gonna be taken by a youngster'.

Such a shame.
