Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up whether to make an offer for Joe Rodon, the highly-rated Swansea City central defender, Stuart James can reveal.

Currently on international duty with Wales and expected to play against England at Wembley on Thursday, Rodon has attracted interest from other Premier League clubs, including West Ham United.

Spurs are now very much in the picture and giving consideration to tabling a bid for Rodon, who has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in the Championship.

It is understood that Swansea will demand around £18 million for the 22 year old, with the club’s owners insistent that he will not be allowed to leave on the cheap. Tottenham would no doubt hope to do a deal for a lot less.

Composed on the ball and dominant in the air, Rodon has made huge progress since making his Swansea debut under Graham Potter at the start of the 2018-19 season. He quickly established himself in the team with some excellent performances, went on to win his first Wales cap in September last year and has been outstanding for Swansea in their opening four Championship games this season.

Spurs are in the market for a more experienced central defender – Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger and Manchester City’s John Stones are among the players targeted – and it remains to be seen whether a move for Rodon would still happen if they end up making another signing in that department today.

Tottenham have until 16 October to sign a player from the Championship because the domestic deadline for transfers between Premier League and EFL clubs is later.

We mentioned him the other week in the Diop thread as West Ham were looking at him.

Is he the best championship defender?

We have more time as well due to the window with EFL being open longer. But would he improve us? I'd rather wait for Skriniar in Jan or next year

Him and Ben White were a class above the rest. This coming from someone who watched a lot of the Championship. Swansea fans on twitter are devastated and would hate it if he left. Seem to rate him closer to 25 mil, which is fair considering what Brighton wanted for White.

Arguably, yes.

Don't really see the need to get him though. Skriniar Improves our first XI, Rodon just becomes backup.

Would rather wait until January, unless Japh's injury is worse than we are led to believe.

Can't say I've ever properly watched him play but the Swansea fans certainly seem to rate him. We'd have until 16th to get this done too so potentially a good back-up if we can't get anything done today.

1.93m as well ?

If this link is true, we would still have until the 16th (date might be wrong) to complete a deal?

Kabak is a really exciting name
I loved him last season even in a struggling Schalke team. The start of this season though, he has been really poor. Obviously Schalke are really REALLY shit right now, and that def doesn't help his individual performances, like Diop. Would definitely take him though, and we were linked in Turkey early on in the window iirc.

Swansea have been linked with ccv recently and he was previously on loan there so maybe that could come into play
