I’m stating the obvious here and to an extent what’s been reported, but don’t expect much to happen this summer RE transfers as things currently stand. This window will be limited to spending money we make from selling players, Swap deals, free transfers and some loans if they aren’t too expensive. We will use a few promising young players from our academy. Players that the club are happy to sell if the price is right (as things stand): Lamela, Foyth, Sissoko, Rose, KWP (in a swap). On a personal level I’m convinced that Foyth can change Jose’s mind with a couple of decent performances over coming games.

I've brought your quote from the ITK into here to discuss foyth. I don't know how he goes about convincing Jose to give an opportunity over the coming games, I really want him to make it, I think defenders like Foyth are a joy although early on they can be a disaster, I just don't know how he gets the chance unless Aurier really fucks up and Jose gives him a chance at RB.

I think he could be pretty good as a RB like an Ivanovic type or a CB in a back 3 but I'm not sure I'll ever totally trust him as a pair in a CB duo.

I think in a standard market some team like Valencia or Southampton would pay 20mil for him but no chance we'd get near that right now.

I find it harder and harder to judge the younger players unless they get a proper run in a team like Dele did. There does seem to be real quality in Foyth but also a weakness which we have seen (Norwich etc).
Jose made a point of singling him out early in the year for praise as someone he had been impressed with and he may have been very let down with his performances after that. BUT in the scenario we have where we spend what we earn - it is very simple - we either sell him and buy a CB or persist with him. BUT if we are to sell him I would imagine we would get somewhere between £10-15m maybe for him and if we cannot get the replacement we want with that then why not give him the chance.

We will never know what type of player he is unless actually given a run of five or six games. Defending is about reading the game. And that comes from experience. He has rarely been given the opportunity to atone for mistakes. He plays one or two gamss, does well. Plays the third game and has a mare, then goes back to oblivion. I just don't know how a player can get into any tempo playing like that.

I hope Jose tries him at DCM. For me he too lightweight to play at CB and there is a good chance he can cement a place in the team in that position.

He has made a few too many errors everytime I have seen him play when given a chance at CB.

He's still only played 41 games in his senior club career. It's no wonder he makes mistakes considering how inexperienced he is.

De he get skinned by N'Dombele before Winks deflected the ball back into N'Dombele's path to put him through on goal?

he could play a similar role to matic in Jose’s united. When Young went flying forward, in this case it would be Aurier, Matic would fill in that half space. He wouldn’t move to Lb but would be ready to move there incase of a counter attack on the wing.

This. He plays once every few months in usually a nothing game and everyone seems shocked when he’s rusty..Has talent just needs games

Problem is you can not give a shaky CB some games and hope he settles. Mistakes been made by CB are too costly and wont help his confidence when everybody is fuming that after mistakes he is still in the line up.
Look at Tanganga. Got a look in, took his chance, and gets now game time. Its up to Foyth to take his chance.

If he just lacks experience we should loan him out.

Anyway I still wonder why he was never tried as a CDM where our options are not too convincing and if he loses the ball there are still two CBs behind him.

Strange that we tolerate a clown at right back in Aurier but cant give a chance to an actual footballer in Foyth. The Argentine set up trust him in that position.

We have given shaky CBs repeated opportunities though. Seems a bit of seniority works wonders when you want a bit of time to play your way back into form. I'd like to see Foyth given a go at DM though since, as you say, he wouldn't be the last line of defence and has the skill set to play there. Don't think Mourinho will give him a chance though tbh, either at CB, RB or DM.

I wouldn't be adverse to him filling in at right back either to be honest. Again he has played there for Argentina and I think he looked OK there when playing for Pochettino. and we don't have lots of money to spend.
