After undergoing assessment over the past few days, we can confirm that Juan Foyth has sustained a lateral ligament injury to his left ankle following a challenge in our Audi Cup match against Bayern Munich.
The Argentina international, who will miss the opening two games of the season due to suspension, will now undergo a period of rehabilitation and is expected to return to training in September.

I think we've got away with one there. That's actually not bad at all.

Second best news all summer!!

Still poor timing for him though, I predict that come the end of August KWP will have done well enough to keep the spot.
I hope so, that would be great for us if Kyle steps up (I think he will with a run of games).

Then we can move Foyth to DM and make @thinktank's dreams come true.

Is he back training? Was pictured with the rest of the squad at breakfast this morning in training gear.

This was the team news today...

Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama have returned to full training with the squad ahead of Saturday’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa.

The midfield pair have been sidelined during pre-season but are back in the frame as we prepare to take on newly-promoted Villa at the new stadium (5.30pm).

Heung-Min Son and Juan Foyth are both serving the second of respective three-game bans following their red cards in the penultimate Premier League match of last season. Defender Juan also has an ankle injury – he’s continuing rehab and expected to return to training in September.

New signing Ryan Sessegnon is also unavailable due to a hamstring injury sustained during the summer with the England Under-21 national team. Ryan is undergoing assessment and working through a rehabilitation programme.

Midfielder Dele Alli is progressing well with his rehabilitation from a hamstring problem but is not available this weekend.

But there is good news on left-back Ben Davies who has returned to training with the squad after groin surgery and is building up his fitness.

Happy that Davies is getting back into it.

I might have missed something or overthinking it but I wonder why Aurier wasn't including in this, I'm guessing either because it was already mentioned he was back in full training or he's off.

I think he's been training but wasn't ready for full contact because of his hand.

Good point, but you know how often times they don't mention players or hide what is going on in terms of injuries.

I reckon he's suggesting sacrificing now for the future by developing foyth for when Alder/Vert leave.

And if we miss out on a CL league place while we’re doing it? Our defence looks all over the shop as it is. No need to make it even weaker.

Poch has got to make the decision now IMO if he's going to be a CB or a RB. Either way he needs games whilst we have some experience next to him as chances are both Jan and Toby are off next season. I still think he's better as a ball playing CB and I'd like to see him given a run of games there next to Toby.

By the sounds of it he already has.

I think he'd make a brilliant DM.
He's got skill, can tackle and a great passer

Just had the same thoughts Jezz. We need a defensive minded player in front of our back four. Dier appears to be out of Poch’s plans atm. My other option was Sanchez. Both Sanchez and Foyth have pace too.

Seeing Winks and NDombele sat in front of a DM would push them a little higher up towards our front 3.
