I think it's a bastardisation of the view that Tripper should have been converted to one, based on the fact he can shoot (going by his FKs) and cross, and his strengths certainly didn't seem to have been anything defensive.

Not massively different to the inversed Sissoko-at-right-back argument.

the irony is that Trippier started off his career at Man City as a Right midfielder but was moved back to defence

Typical Foyth today, lose the ball and goes in with a kamikaze tackle to win it back. Only a yellow card this time.
Some football ability but a massive liability, like his right back rival, Aurier.

Sheffield United ain't a push over they will cause problems for a lot of teams.

I'm frustrated as the next man, we can't buy a win in the epl. Pochettinho picking this team signifies the beginnings of the rebuild. Unfortunately they are going to need a few more games to really click.

Some fans have smelt blood, regardless want a change of direction and manager.

Thought he was excellent today apart from the early cruyff turn. Really shut down the right hand side looked strong and composed. Much much better option than Aurier.

Like how you swept straight pass him causing a pen ?

No good having a good game ( which he did overall ) if you’re causing big issues like that.

Need to start using his brain otherwise he’ll get nowhere

It was a Brazil Vs Argentina friendly I’ll excuse the early exuberance.

So, he was playing RB, or RCB? If the former, then that's great news, but not new news, if you know what I mean. Sounds like he has played there a few times for Argentina, and has performed well each time.

Apparently, he's good enough to start there for Argentina, but not good enough to start there for Tottenham. Apparently not good enough to displace God' Gift to Red Cards, Yellow Cards, Boneheaded Mistakes, Foul Throws, and Conceding Penalties.

He was RB. I was interested today because it’s the best opponent he’s faced at international level. And bar the one moment discussed he was very good. He totally shut down Willian and constantly forced him inside into traffic.

I feel like even if this wasn’t the Foyth thread I’d still instantly know exactly who you’re talking about here.

He has all the talent you could hope for in a promising young player. I think this season of all seasons we need to give the guys who make up the backbone of our future a genuine run of games. Foyth, Sanchez, Sessegnon even Winks and Skipp, possibly Parrott as much game time as possible without risking catastrophe so we know we have really god foundations in place moving forward. Europa League should be our objective now, I don't see enough form or signs of it moving forward to say that anything more is genuinely realistic so let's know continue playing those who we know have either no future or who have a ceiling that has been reached with us.

We need to have players with balls like Foryth, players whos not afraid to express themselves

We dont need brains if having one only allows him to play safe back and side passes.
We need passion, skills, instincts and players in the mold of our motto, players who dare take risk and play with style.
Thats the Tottenham i know, which led me to support this team sincre 1997. Not some cautious hog wash which we see on the pitch now.

Brains......meh

The kid seems like a proper footballer, but needs to concentrate on his...concentration and basics. Otherwise he could end up like Stones, who I think it similar in style.

Said the same thing many times since we've had Foyth, he needs a run of games to iron out the mistakes and be able to build, similar with Sanchez. We shouldn't be surprised he's still making the same mistakes when he plays 1 game every 15 games we have, that's not how to develop. Argentina are doing us a massive favour giving him consistent games as he now gets 2 additional games every 2 months but it's still nowhere near enough.

Yeah. I’m far from convinced of him being a fullback but he should just be given a run of games there now. Nobody can question the boy’s effort. If we don’t give him games I suspect he will agitate for a move. The first choice Argentina right back isn’t going to want to be a bit part player for their club side.

Hopefully this is the end of the RB love-fest/experiment for him. Put that man at CDM or CB and call it a day!
