You can't just release a player because he wants to be released. Surely then every player could do that?

At the time I think Dele still had a price and many clubs would have fancied a bargain. Everton pay good money for any old shite.

You say good loans. Nothing has really changed from last summer. Ndombele hasn't done great at Napoli. Rodon started well and then got dropped. If we didn't sell them then I don't think we'll sell them next summer. Leaving it until the last days of the window will only lead to poor decisions
We wanted to get Aurier out of the squad what else could we have done?

Yeah, Ndombele is a complete loser. You could put him any team on the planet and he would jog around aimlessly & not work hard.

Rodon has started the last 2 games, he was dropped temporarily but is back in the team.

If we could have gotten something for Dele we would have. The whole world knew he was cooked minus the worst run club in the league.

Ally Gold said Aurier and his agent went about it a shit way and we're turning down offers with the thought they could get Spurs to just release him.

Dele is an absolutely terrible player at this point hence why two clubs have already wanted to get rid of them and given up nothing to get him.

He's found good loans for Gil, Ndombele, Lo Celso, & Rodon who I'd be surprised if we couldnt get them all out the door this Summer for something. He's had a hell of a job cleaning up the absolute shit Levy has dumped on him.
Yeah were it not for Paratici we:

a) probably wouldn't have got Conte
b) would still be trying to force some poor manager to persevere with Dele, Winks and Ndombele
c) would probably still have Lamela and Bergwijn at the club

It's bloody hard to move on players on high wages in a post-covid market. Maybe Paratici could've done a bit better, but Arsenal, United and Chelsea have also massively struggled to move on their flops - it's not just us.

At the very least Paratici has listened to the manager, found unwanted players loans and been decisive about it, rather than the usual Levy approach of forcing managers to persevere with flops and wastrels

Agreed, United still have fucking Phil Jones on their books, Chelsea still has Bakayoko, Arsenal has Pepe.

Ours just seems worse because of the horrendous recruitment and Levy forcing these players on Jose, Nuno and then Conte finally decided to get rid of them so value has just gotten worse as they've been here longer.

I agree.

Just because it was mutually terminated, doesn’t mean it was paid off in full. He’d effectively being paid twice for the next six months, and anything that followed.

Probably some half way house that they both agreed on.
Hmm, that makes sense - that we'd top up his wages for 6 months (as we would have had to do for the loan), and then top up his wages for a year at his next club (just as we may have had to incentivise a move for him this summer.)
The sub-clauses of his contract are far from terminated, then.

We still are missing out on a loan and transfer fees, but who knows if Paratici has done his 'magic' again - alledgedly - and later we may benefit from a higher fee for Reguilon or get an informal option on a different player??

Never lived up to what we had hoped for or needed in a right wing back, so with his age profile etc he will be no major loss, Porro all the way now.

Odd thing to say “Big things are coming Tottenham’s way” for a leaving player - certainly more than the usual platitudes so perhaps it’s alluding to something tangible re QSI or another?

…..or I’ve been on this site too long in January!

You're aware that Villareal also terminated Aurier's contract, right? This isn't Football Manager, not every player has a set price, or is willing to go to a team that is willing to pay it.
If you know how to sell players to any old team on FM I'd be glad of the help, constant battle trying to offload my washed up skipper who wants to see out his contract...

Also nice cropping of my original post to frame it nicely so you could have an unnecessary dig.

To date, the 31-year-old has played just 12 minutes of competitive football in one substitute's appearance.

What a weird situation
