How the fuck did Moussa Sissoko become the heart and mouthpiece of our team? Crazy times.

I was listening to a podcast on how to train like an elite performer the other day, discussing what talent is and isn't. They said on it that the marines have a hell week and they don't like the people who are pretty naturally in peak condition, instead they prefer those who have to struggle through and build up to it, because it builds the character they need for when it gets mentally tougher down the line.

I liken this to old Moussa, the vast majority of the rest of them lack character because their ability has gotten them so far, not Moussa though, he has had to fight for every fucking inch and has built incredible character. I'd say Kane is in the same boat in terms of having to show huge character to develop his level to where it is. The rest though who have had to work hard but football comes fairly naturally to them are having their characters tested and there isn't fucking much to test as they seem to have little.

100%. That's why I felt that Kane regressed a little bit (imo of course). He didn't look like he was giving 100% like before and since he got where he is because of hard work and not because of his superior natural talent it showed.

It's amazing how much Sissoko seems to love the club despite having that hellish first year.

It’s nice but right now I don’t want anymore talk from any player of ours. Sissoko can hold his head up high along with a couple of others, so he gets a pass but please, enough with the chat, start ducking showing it on the pitch.
Kick the ass of those who aren’t doing it,

Imagine a Roy Keane type in our shirt today. He’d have physically assaulted the likes of Eriksen and co for their efforts during the game. They should be fucking ashamed. Call themselves professional! Wankers

Just have to love this guy. A professional and role model and we can tell he's not doing it for show, as he did has the performance to back his words up.

TBH, would have hope Kane can do the same. No words and actions from him as much as I would think he will..

did you see what happened yesterday when sissoko was taken out of the midfield , n replaced with rusty dier.

we need sissoko in the midfield at the moment. dier can play at rb if need be, i understand he needs a run of games to get his real level

Just watching the Raiders convert their touchdown with an extra point kick, straight up the middle and coming down in row Z......couldn’t help think that Sissoko has missed his calling :cautious:

What are peoples thoughts on using Sissoko as a defensive midfielder? He has the energy, physicality and discipline and could offers more mobility than Dier. In a midfield 3 we have Ndombele, Lo Celso, Winks and Dele who all offer more going forward so might be worth trying him a bit deeper. It might also stop him getting within shooting range of the oppositions box.

Sissoko’s role in the team is to cover lots of ground/area of the pitch in defensive support of our full backs and also to surge forward, break the lines and carry the ball forward. Asking him to sit in front of the back four negates all that he is good at - and we all know how long it took for us to find him a place in the team.

I've been saying this for a while mate. I think he'd become a stronger version of Fernandinho, hopefully minus the dirty fouls.

That is how he is used but does he offer more than Ndombele and Lo Celso in that role? For me he is a player who relies on his pace and power, both of which will start to decline. Why not drop him back now and see how he does? If I was an attacking midfielder I would much rather be up against Dier or Winks than Moussa and for me he is at his best when he keeps it simple. Might not work but can't be any worse than what we have tried so far.

I don't understand why we played Sissoko at right back.
He's one of the few players that currently has some level of form and Poch chose to reduce his influence and put him in the corner.
If we had an overload of top form midfielders, I'd say fair enough, but we don't.
So why not leave him where he is and play Dier there, if you don't like KWP or Foyth?
Surely the middle of the park is more important.
If you're playing new boy, Ndombele there; play him with his mate, Sissoko.
I just don't understand.

There's a lot to that. I definitely think that mindset is a major factor that sets athletes apart. What was the podcast, I'd like to give it a listen.

Time to bench Sissoko, we can’t carry him when the squad is in such bad form. Limitations are becoming glaringly obvious again unfortunately, seems to keep some fans and staff on side by the occasional recovery block but offers so little.

His work off the ball is great and gives the team a lot. However on the ball so poor. Pretty much gives you nothing on it and hides away from showing for the ball in a lot of instances imo. Just no real quality on the ball between him and Winks when they play together and it really hurts us, especially in games like today when we have the lions share of possession.

I have always been aware of his limitations, we will need him next week but in games like today there is no need.

Absolute shite. I lose a bit more of the will to live every time Winks is replaced instead of him. Winks can have bad games but when Sissoko is bad he’s still light years ahead of him.
