Being big and strong does not make you a good footballer.

Being a decentish tackler does not make you a good defender.

Being able to pass the ball and decision making are the two most important abilities for a midfielder, he has neither.

He is not a cm, he is not a rw, at best he is a rm and that is debatable.

In the 90s raaaning around a bit, a decent engine and grit would be valued now we need players who can actually play football.

He has got to go. Thanks and good look!

Skipp or lo celso should be playing in his place.

Spot on. Lets face it he has NEVER EVER been up to the level which we need him to be based on where we now want to be as a club.
As you rightly say he really doesn't have a proper position as he doesn't have the passing ability, touch or football brain to be a CM, he can't cross or pick a pass or score enough to be a RW, he could be an old fashioned RM in a 4-4-2 but again he can't really cross. He can also kind of be a CM in a 4-3-3 bursting forwards but that only works in certain games.

Fair play he always gives 100% and in transitions he can be helpful and he seems like a decent bloke and pro but he should be no where near our first XI especially not in a CM2 and its no coincidence that since our Midfield two went from a peak Wanyama and Dembele (the player most of our players at the club at the time said was the best player in training every day) to Sissoko and Winks that our performances and results have dropped off a cliff, its like Man.U going from Roy Keane and Paul Scholes to Tom Cleverly and Fred.

CM is SUCH a key position and Sissoko is just 100% not up to scratch. He can be a good squad player and good player to bring on if we need to defend a lead or transition on the counter attack but starting in our first XI, absolutely no way jose.

Infairness it was a harsh penalty, probably the last time I saw such a harsh penalty was the last time he gave one away....

Seriously though, he might be a cult hero to some but he isn't good enough and shouldn't be anywhere near our team
He's only been decent as he actually started to put the work in last year.

Seems like a nice guy but she should never have been signed.

His positional awareness and positional discipline are not good enough for a top club. His touch is poor and his passing inconsistent.

He’s not a Tottenham player and his acquisition showed a flaw in our transfer strategy. He’s the next Didier Zokora and you’d have thought the club would have learned that lesson the first time round.

His positional awareness??? Sissoko plays all over the field. He runs more than any other players and covers more space. You can see he is aware but unfortunately he cant be everywhere all the time

Touch is Poor and Passing inconsistent? I wouldnt argue but he has shown some incredibly deft foot footwork at times and passing has been good at times.Gaining confidence has helped him a lot.

Sissoko works harder than anyone on the team.He does whatever they ask him to do. He never feigns injury and he gets right up and carries on playing most of the time. He is a soldier. At worst he would be considered one of the best bench players in the league because he can play anywhere.

Worst of all is the rap he gets from some fans. They usually turn to Sissoko when things are not going well.He is a easy mark to take on the whole teams responsibility. When things are not going well I always point at our World Class stars

I love how he’s turned it round to such an extent his action why essentially cost us the CL final isn’t even being mentioned in his player thread because he’s been so bloody immense all season he deserves no criticism at all, well that and the fact it was never a fucking pen anyway! COYS. Sissoko to be our toure next season and suddenly bang 10+ goals? With sissoko anything is possible now.

As you're stalking my prev posts let me explain my wisdom. In my first post I said how he’d ‘turned it around’ by that I meant he’d gone from being god damn awful to being one of our best most consistent players, but that was in a team that was massively off form, that doesn’t mean I ever said he was at the level we need him to be or that he could ever get there which he can’t and won’t.

The Y.Toure comment was obviously sarcastic, he’s scored about 3 goals in his whole career.

Also his form this year has been back to old sissoko which is just pretty awful and not good enough.

all good for ya?

Was just about to say the same.

Weird thing to call him out on.

People are so quick to forget some of his performances last season where he was literally dragging us through games single-handedly.

Dembele was a talented footballer and tough. Its hard to get that in one player. But every player has limitations, With Dembele it was that he controlled a smaller area.He rarely ventured forward that much (not sure if that was him or Poch) even though he had DM's behind him.
We got Ndombele.ND is a brilliantly creative player. But I think he isn't the workhorse that Dembele was. When we lost Dembele,it was Sissoko that stepped in and we seemed to go forward more,at least Sissoko did and though he couldn't do anything with the ball when he got to his destination. He definitely saved us in a lot of ways during that period.
Since then Sissoko at times, not often, has shown incredible footwork and his passing got better (sure hitting longer passes was often very bad but sometimes they would be perfect.
I think Sissoko has a problem with self esteem and I think Mourinho loving tough players will work on him and mabe find a diamond in there.

How this fits in the Ndombele is a huge question because how do we set up the midfield?

Ndombele is exceptional going forward,he could occupy an Eriksen spot back to a Dembele spot.
Winks is limited as a DM and as a CM he probably be better especially with NDombele to work with. But that leaves one big question. We need a real top notch DM to control the defensive side of MF. (a rejuvenated Dier would do it but he isnt there yet and may never be) Then Winks and ND might do really well. Until then,Sissoko is the one player we can rely on to support attack and defence but how it all works defensively is the biggest concern.

If Sissoko could shoot, and pass well in the final third and tackle brilliantly not just toughly,I think we wouldnt actually need other players at all, just him.

You said he was "Immense all season and deserves no criticism at all"

Yet now he does deserve criticism and he was only immense in relative terms to others not being as good. It's fine, you got carried away, I just happen to think that comment was spot on.

Has he really been any worse than others? Son, Moura, Kane, Alli were all poo on Wednesday night and have been so (bar son) on and off for ages too.

He was immense last season, deserved every bit of praise he got and stood up to be counted despite being in a team, as you say, that was off form.

The improvement in him has been staggering and I'll be forever grateful for how he kept last season together for us. However I must admit I agree with others in that he'll never quite be the right player for a side with our aspirations. He's a square peg in a world of round holes unfortunately.
