Agreed that Hugo walking back in isn’t a given, but then Gazzaniga might also be benefitting from Mourinho’s tactics. I’d wager Hugo would look a damn site getter without being asked to impersonate Hoddle too.

Don’t get me wrong, Gazzaniga is great at the moment and apart from not dominating his area enough for a man his size, I have little complain with him. I just want to see what Hugo gets up to under Mourinho too.

yeah agree with this, and it’s a fair point about the tactics. Although even in his brief appearances under Poch his kicking was more assured than Lloris.

Was nervous when Lloris got injured, but this bloke has been superb.
Absolutely this. He's been far better than I could have hoped for tbh. Low shots not really his forte but unless you get a top 3 worldie keeper, there will always be some small things here and there.

Honestly, i initially worried we'd be totally fuct when Hugo went down.

We'll be fine until the summer.

His footwork is a weakness which was highlighted against Bayern but overall he is excellent as a backup 2nd choice.

Suspect from distance but like how he commands his area and with the ball at his feet he's decent as well. Good backup.

He's done really well, but like someone mentioned above, with Jose cutting out the Barca-ball at the back, Hugo won't have to persist with a tactic that really illuminates the weakest part of his game.

We miss Hugo, but credit to Gazza, not as much as I thought we would.

Can clearly see him continue to improve and gain more confidence, his still 27, quite young for a goalkeeper, not even at his peak yet

Glad he's done well. I was one of the 'idiots' who suggested that gazza shouldn't have been dropped from the barca home game, and should of stayed in the team. His kicking can be sensational, but I was sick. Of lloris costing us big games before they start. Lloris been on the decline for a while. Also think he should of been dropped at least as captain after his DD episode. To pally with poch and seemed no hunger left after winning WC.

According to these nerds, he has been saving .35 more goals a game than the average keeper would have if facing the same shots. This is tops in the league. Lloris was only an average shot blocker before his injury.

Surely there's no putting the cat back in the bag at this point right? In my mind he's clearly done enough to be a starter in a top league, if not here then elsewhere. If our plan is for Lloris to go back to no.1, or to bring in a new keeper like Nubel, Gazza can't be happy being a backup at this stage.
