Should’ve saved the first but made some good saves later to keep the score down. But it will be the mistake that’ll be remembered.

That's because there is no substance behind your opinion. There's a reason Lloris is first choice when he's fit, same way he's first choice and captain for France ahead of Areola, Mandanda, Meret, Ruffier, Lafont, Maignan, Lecomte and Costil - Gazzaniga has one Argentina cap - can you name one other Argentinian goalkeeper without Google*?

*Off the top of my head, I'm sure their first choice is Manchester United's reserve goalie.
What does that even mean? You're on a football forum ffs.

I got tired of Lloris' "antics" a long time ago, and I'm not the only one in the world who thinks he should be replaced.

I like Gazza and have watched him concede goals, that weren't the result of blunders. Equally I have seen him make some great saves in the wake of a shaky defence.

Lloris' blunders-that-lead-to-goals and impish captaincy are what I dislike about the guy. Lloris can pull off worldies but can't be relied upon. Could care less whether he's France's number 1 or ours. Whilst Lloris is still here, the captaincy goes to him and I'd rather it went to a vocal on-field player.

Sergio Romero and Walter Benitez. But I see your point.

He's our 2nd keeper & whilst he should have done better with their 1st goal, but there have been times when Lloris has let in goals I thought he should have saved, so I wouldn't be too hard on him because he made some excellent saves that kept us in the game. In fact if every player on the pitch had played as well as he did for 99% of the game I reckoned we would have won.

Both mistakes for their goals were game defining.
Particularly the 2nd one. It was a miracle we went in 1-1 at half time and I thought we'd push on and win from there, only for Sissoko to piss it away in 2 minutes (Rashford dived, but it was still a massive mistake).

Lloris is a far better keeper than Gazzaniga

And the mistake deserves to be remembered. Seems to me opposition strikers now realise strike low and hard and Gazza has trouble getting down to these shots. Particularly when they are hit low to corner of the goal. Left or right.

Low into the corner will always be difficult to save for any 'keeper. He doesn't always position himself well though, reluctant to come off his line and narrow the angles.

Getting beaten at his near post was a bad error. I think he's a solid enough No. 2 but I don't think he's going to cement his place as a No. 1 except by stepping down a level. I'd still have him over Vorm.

Handsome Gaz is not good enough to be first choice i'm afraid. Not a bad keeper, but not great.

I think Gazza is a decent backup keeper - similar to Vorm but doesn't instill enough confidence to be #1.

I think we will be in the hunt for a new #1 in the Summer unless Hugo comes back at his absolute best.

Did well again tonight.

Have been pretty impressed with him since being thrown in especially with the games coming thick and fast

Was really worried with Hugo’s long, enforced absence that we could struggle if he’d had 1 or 2 really nervy games early on

Good on him

So @ToDarrenIsToDo @coys200 @yankspurs

Such was the MASSIVE risk playing him because you know Goalies tend to die when they play in Munich or somethin...what injury did our No1 pick up tonight? :p

Did you see Kingsley Coman pick up a potentially really bad injury tonight in a dead rubber game? Kind of proves my point that risking it really wasn't worth it, especially when we ended up losing 3-1.

Of course the risk was really low, not really sure what you point in your comment is Shady. Coman picked up a bad looking injury just running after a ball, if anything that reaffirms my point that at any stage a bad injury can occur so why risk it in a meaningless game, especially in a position where we already have Lloris and Vorm out injured?

For me it didn't and doesn't make sense ;)

Kingsley Coman, in a nothing game, likely tore his ACL. We are lucky nothing happened to Gazzaniga but that was a risk i dont think we should have taken.
It was a complete freak injury that could just have easily occurred in a training session.

Yes I saw an outfield player pick up an injury I didn't see any goalkeepers pick up any injuries, you know why that is right...? Because there is generally an extremely low probability of GK's picking up injuries to players who are more likely to get injured I e outfield players which is what I've been saying all along. The fact that our keeper didn't get injured solidifies the point I've been trying to make in the first place.

It solidifies your point? Mate if you were waiting for the moment where Gazzaniga wasn't going to pick up an injury, a 99.9% chance that was going to happen then you chose the wrong crowd. Let's simplify it again for you seeing as this seems to register with you.

Was there a chance our only fit senior GK could have got an injury tonight, as he could in any other game?

Did a footballer get a potentially bad injury tonight?

How did that footballer get his injury? Was it doing something Gazzaniga couldn't have been doing, something like running after a ball etc?

Could our only fit senior GK have got an injury in a complete waste of time game?

Clearly the chances were slim but if you honestly think it was a completely risk free decision then you're kidding yourself. For me it was the wrong call, we have far more important games coming up than a write off of a game in Munich where I feel Jose got a few things wrong tonight. If Lloris can dislocate his elbow away at Brighton, Gazzaniga could also pick up any kind of unnecessary injury in a game where we can only finish 2nd and they can only finish 1st. Barmy you can't see that even if the chances are extremely slim.

The only reason he picked Gazzaniga tonight was to reduce the risk of a mauling. For me having him fit over the Christmas break matters more and whilst I understand why the manager went with it and yes the risk was extremely low, we cuttently have our only 2 other senior GKs out injured, it simply wasn't worth the risk and I'd have gone with one of the kids personally.
