I saw that this morning on my 'The Athletic' feed ... I'd love to know where the journalist got that from as I cannot recall any link between Jose and United and Sessegnon. It's not backed up with quotes or anything either. And if true, why leave him out of the match-day squad (when he provides the only real cover for the WFs) and have Foyth, Rose and KWP on the bench? I hope Mourinho is a big fan but I doubt it.
Just because it's not in the media doesn't mean it's not true. The fact it didnt hit the media at the time probably gives it more credence. There was absolutely nothing in the press about us signing Stambouli when that came out of the blue.

In terms of the match day squad on Saturday, I wouldn't read a lot into that. Sessegnon was out warming up with the subs before the match and at HT. If he wasn't in Mourinho's thinking, I doubt he would've been out warming up despite the fact he wasnt on the bench.

I definitely remember Sessengon being linked to United last season, with articles saying Mourinho was a big fan.

I feel like he could be perfect as the attacking full back that pushes up into the 4 behind Kane. The only worry being that he might cramp Son on the left hand side. You could put Son on the right and GLC on the left, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to mess around with Son - at least at the moment - when he's so good where he is.

I for sure remember United being interested in Sess before we signed him and that would have been when Mourinho was in charge.

I'm assuming that it's just an inverse of how we played on Saturday with Lucas playing infield which allowed Aurier to play on the touch line.

Yeah it's probably fine, I'm just a little gun shy about messing with things too much.

That wasn’t my point. Just that Creswell Anderson is better so it should have been Foyth/Rose going be that logic stated above.

Not if he wanted to exploit the fact that Anderson doesn't help defensively.

Really hope he starts tonight

Has Jose said he might? Personally I would be shocked as this is a manager who just plays people he knows, experience ahead of potential even playing them out of position. Personally the signing of Sessegnon was the one I was most excited by in the summer but now am not sure when he will get a chance

With Davies out I thought he might, but I believe Rose has got the nod.

It seems Jose likes one of his FB's to attack & the other one to tuck in & make 3 at the back & Davies is ideal for this, but with him out I wondered if he'd play Foyth & have him tuck in when we attack leaving Rose to get forward. He doesn't seem to have done this, so we'll have to see who's doing what tonight.

I’m not sure about this - personally think Lo Celso is ideal in that right/ central attacking role we used Lucas in for games where we expect to have to break teams down a bit more.

nice words from Jose on Sess today.

Says he reminds him of a young Ashley Cole. Thinks he's an attacking player currently but eventually may move to LB.

We won't be seeing him playing as LB under Mourinho anytime soon then.

We won't be seeing him playing at all if that's the case. No way he will play ahead of Son. Only way is if Lucas was dropped, Son moved to the right with Sess on the left.

Sess was playing wide right for Fulham in the PL last season. Not saying it was massively successful, but that's where they were playing him...

Are these the links you are looking for?

Is Son going to play every single game this season then?
