One player I always forget about, despite the fact that I was excited when he joined.

I'm all for signing young talent from the Championship (especially home grown), but we need to have a better plan for scouting, integration and if needs be, selling them on.

What a pointless signing, what did the scouts see that made us shell £25m on him? Not good enough to play in an attacking 3, and not good enough to play at left back. So we signed him as potential, for £25m. Between Poch and the scouting system what an absolute mess.

Hes what 19 or 20? You cant write him off.

Poch was happy to get him in and this is also a levy deal. Young, English with loads of potential.

Its not like we were buying someone for a load of money nobody had ever heard of, people raved about him.

I dont understand why he isnt given a run on the left in the aurier role and then get someone to play the Davies role on the right. Auriers distribution is so inconsistent I don't see what harm it could do to try sess there.

People angry about Ndombele should also be angry about this because he isn't cheap and hasn't even shown a glimpse of being able to play this level. Whats more worrying is we put years of time and effort into trying to sign him.

I think Poch would have turned him into a Left back and he saw him as a Danny Rose but Poch got sacked and the rest is history.

I fail to see why he can not get at least 20 minutes here and there on the left wing especially when we lead.
Has pace and clever finish that can be used on the counter and can better defend than other wingers. That he is not ready to start games (especially as LB) is clear to see. But not even put him on a 9 man bench is laughable.

What a disastrous transfer window last summer was, nearly on par with the year before.
And next summer Ndombele and Lo Celso will be our starter, hopefully with Sess too. And from disastrous window will change to one of the best

Optimistic but you could be right. It would be nice to have a top class CDM that could be a pivot for those guys to play around.

Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon and Bergwijn are the type of signings we need to make.

All are good enough to be first team players right now but have massive potential to get even better.

They may or may not work put but I would rather go for somebody who might become world class than play it safe with a Sissoko, Aurier or Moura type signing.

yes but correct me if I’m wrong but most big clubs spend 70% of their transfer budget to immediately upgrade their starting 11. We spend over £100m on 4 players. One of which is getting limited loan appearances in the championship, one can’t make a 9 man bench and the other can’t get any minutes from the bench.

you can almost make a case for last years transfer window being worse than the summer before as at least we hadn’t spent £90m on players that don’t play for us.

This is it. I don’t think he was a poor signing at all. He has all the physical and technical attributes to be great attacking left back. A position he broke through at with Fulham.

The problem now is we’ve employed a manager who doesn’t work to coach and develop young players - he expects them to perform immediately when given chances and if they don’t they are ostracised from the team.

Sidelined Ryan Sessegnon could be put on loan by Tottenham

Sessegnon, who signed for £25m last summer, has not played at all since football restarted in the middle of June

Tottenham Hotspur may be forced to find a loan move for Ryan Sessegnon this summer amid fears that the youngster’s development is stalling under Jose Mourinho.

Sessegnon, a £25 million signing from Fulham last summer, has not played a single minute for Tottenham since the Premier League’s restart and was left out of the 20-man squad that faced Everton on Monday night.

The 20-year-old had to overcome a serious hamstring injury at the start of the campaign and has since struggled for game time under Mourinho, starting only four matches in the league. Against Everton on Monday night, Sessegnon was left out of the squad in favour of teenage left-back Dennis Cirkin.

Tottenham are understood to rate Sessegnon highly and have faith in his ability, but there is an acceptance that he needs more minutes if he is to continue to develop as a player.

After emerging as one of Fulham’s key players despite his young age, Sessegnon chose Tottenham over the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig because he was desperate to play for Mauricio Pochettino.

The sacking of Pochettino in November came just two weeks after Sessegnon, who can play at left back or left wing, made his long-awaited debut for the club.

Sessegnon made his first start under Mourinho against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, scoring Tottenham’s only goal, but has not been given many opportunities since, despite the club’s belief in his talent.

If Tottenham were to sanction a loan move, chairman Daniel Levy would want guarantees that Sessegnon would be given plenty of game time. He is also unlikely to allow Sessegnon to play for a side that could be considered a rival to Tottenham.

As reported by Telegraph Sport last week, Tottenham are hoping to find ways to lower the transfer fee of around £35 million that Southampton are believed to want for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

They could negotiate a deal in which right-back Kyle Walker-Peters makes his loan move to Southampton permanent, and the prospect of Sessegnon being available on loan could also help Tottenham’s negotiating position.

Sessegnon was only 17 when he was named the Championship Player of the Season in 2018 and there were calls for him to be included in England’s World Cup squad that summer.

His lack of game-time at Tottenham has caused him to drop off the international radar for now, despite being seen by many as one of the most talented youngsters of this exciting generation.

Sessegnon would not have been in contention for this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament but will hope that the postponement of the competition until next year will provide him with time to demonstrate his ability.

If Jose doesn't want to play him I'd bet anyone in the bottom half would love to take him on loan, and it would be by far the best move for him next season.

Hopefully Sess gets the time, training and development he needs here. He certainly has talent, it just needs to be nurtured. At least you could see in his Fulham days that Sessegnon could score and assist. The one I struggle with is Jack Clarke, who can't get a game, even off the bench down in the Championship. A bewildering punt of £10m. £10m!!!

Not sure how keen Sessegnon would be to venture too far out on loan tbh.

Wasn't one of the major reasons he chose to join us in the first place was because it would enable him to stay in London?

I would give Sessegnon to Leipzig or Southampton for two year loan deal. Atleast for two years, both soton and Leipzig won't need to bother for any left back. Anyway, who is the first choice left back of Soton?
