We have 2 LB’s. We need an RB. Send Foyth on loan. Have Tanganga compete with Sanchez, Dier and Toby.

The reason why Aarons is so preferred is not only his potential. It’s his HG status. There are better young FB’s out there for the taking in Europe but HG status is a massive bonus in our situation,
I don't think Aarons would be good value anymore considering how poor he's looked of late. If we want HG there's Ferguson, Bogle, Sessegnon etc. Clyne is also going on a free isn't he?

Totally agree with this - what is so special about Aarons? Also people underrate Aurier quite a lot here I think - ok he may not be the best defender and is prone to errors but he is quick, athletic and is a potent attacking threat on the right.
I don't think anyone doubts Aurier's physical attributes and commitment, but it seems that almost every match he is caught calamitously out of position or makes some other huge error. We need someone more reliable, given the rest of our defence isn't exactly watertight. His positional sense is not good, and that's an understatement.

You can't judge it compared to a perfect world though. There are probably only about 4 or 5 RBs in world football that are faultless. Who's an obvious upgrade on Aurier that would cost under £25m?

It depends where we finish in the league. If we miss out on Europe altogether we'll be fine with just Aurier and one of Foyth/Tanganga as the backup but if we finish in Europe we should bring in a young promising RB to rotate with him and keep his standards high.

It did Kyle Walker the world of good when Trippier came in, the same happened to Danny Rose with Davies.

I'm not expecting perfection, but I would rather we had a solid 7/10 every game player than someone with such dramatic peaks and troughs. I'm not a scout but I'm sure there are plenty of solid full backs around for £25m. Solid, not world class.

Aurier's problem is in his head, not his physical attributes. If he wants to learn he could be great.

Aurier is technically and physically very good. Problem is he’s a liability. If we’re a goal up with a few minutes to go he’s liable to dive in and give away a pen, try dribbling out of defence and get caught or get caught sleeping at the back post.

I fear that you could put any right back in this team and they wouldn’t fair much better.

This club needs to do what United did last summer. Sell the under achievers like Aurier (He's not been soo bad but he lacks the extra 5% mentality to be a real winner).

Bring in Bogel and use Tanganga as back up.

Prone to errors is an understatement. Prone to lack of work more like it. Prone to concentration lapses. We will never be a contender with players like him. He has to be one of the worst signings we ever made, and that is saying something.

No I don’t, but that wasn’t what I was answering
Well i cant think of any other defender off the top off my head that has cost us so many goals, done so many daft things. Walker and Trippier had their special moments but this guy is off the charts. And still is selected for every game . He symbolises how far we have fallen. Aurier, Sissoko, Sanchez, Moura, Davies - bog standard average premier league players and all start for us. We are a mid table team now

And to think we got Aurier over Pereira... Who is now playing for Leicester rather than us ... hold me...

I wonder what bright spark thought that was a good idea...

He’s an okay player. But not good enough if we really want to progress as a side, particularly with how much we rely on that RWB position as an outlet and as a creator. Good athlete, good 1v1 defensively, fantastic in the air, and strong in the tackle but so so deficient of technical quality and hence ultimately not good enough. But as is the cycle with Aurier, he’ll get two assists in his next two games and perhaps convince fans otherwise. If we can get 20m for him I’d sell, bring a right back in and have KWP as backup.

I’m not disagreeing with the idea of selling Aurier, generally, but based on what you have seen, how do you justify Bogle as a guy who can come in and replace him? For all his shortcomings, Aurier still has put up respectable peripheral stats (tackles, assists, crosses/key passes/chances created) in a pretty (very) lackluster team.

Bogle would be a smart purchase as a backup in my opinion, but to claim he may have this extra “5%” Aurier apparently doesn’t seems like a pretty subjective argument to make.

Basically, Bogle would be fine as a backup if we brought in an actual upgrade on Aurier and just let Tanganga focus on CB.

Sometimes you need to ignore stats and focus on the player. Aurier plays in a system where he will get assists due to being our main attacking outlet on the right. He will also make a lot of tackles because he dives in, gives away possession and is generally quite reckless.

As for Aurier the player. Positionally he is woeful, in possession he is wasteful and is often careless.

He also does good things but as a defender you need someone you can trust. He is basically our version of David Luiz.

Bogle may not be the answer but Aurier definitely isn't.
