If we are selling Aurier and then spending all that money on Aarons but want to also sign another RB then why not keep KWP and sell Serge and sign your “solid “ RB ?

Feels like a pretty normal negotiation to me. Buyer leaks their desired price. Seller leaks their desired price. Gap is large on a % basis but not that huge overall. Both sides have room to meet in the middle and claim they were able to move the other off the starting point.

At end of day, question will be whether we feel good about landing an option that’s an upgrade to Serge.

Shouldn’t be that hard given that we’ve likely had 12+ months to know we need a new RB, but given the joke that our scouting/recruiting effort is who knows.

Why buyer needs to leak the price? Can they just tell the price to the buyer club?

Unless we use Tanganga as the solid RB next season and just buy 1 RB.

KWP migh have wanted to move to get game time that he wasn't getting with us

Apparently Aurier is keen according to Gianluca Di Marzio

I stuck this in google translate...

After the championship, for many teams in Italy it is time to think about the future and therefore about the transfer market. One of these is Milan, engaged not only on the Ibrahimovic front, but also in search of new purchases. One of these could be Serge Aurier. The Ivorian born in 1992 has been at Tottenham for two years and has made 42 appearances and 2 goals this season between Premier, Champions League and FA Cup.

Continuous contacts between the club and the player's enturage, who gave his availability and expressed his appreciation for the transfer to the Rossoneri. Milan will have to sell one between Calabria and Conti, meanwhile has started a negotiation with Tottenham. The English company asks for 20 million for the former Paris Saint Germain, Milan intends to spend less and will try to find an agreement.

Di Marzio's reported Aurier valuation keeps rising. Initially reported as 12m-15m, now he's reporting 20m. I expect we'll be looking to sell for no less than that.

How good is ac milan's two right back? Or can we swap any of their players with aurier?
Probably not very good if they want Aurier to improve them in that spot. They honestly only have like 4 good players and they wouldn't send us any of them.

Because Kyle Walker-Peters is 3 years older than Aarons and has proven less. Aarons, believe it or not has more room to grow and is also a more known quantity. KWP might have a great career but he needs to be playing more time now to develop, Aarons can bide his time a lot more.

People keep talking about Aarons and KWP as comparable situations, but they are completely not. They are on completely different stages of their careers and also don't even play in a remotely similar way.

No? I don't think either Dele and Dier are as much of an idiot as Aurier is.
In any case, being an idiot has little to do with professionalism I don't think anyone in our squad isn't at least mostly professional. Even if they don't quite 'get' it on the field of play. Football has come a really long way since even ten years ago. Half of footballers don't even drink anymore, and most footballers just seem to spend time doing really boring boring things on social media or on video games, rather that being 'lads'.

I honestly don't think there is anything to be worried about. We can criticise racist or homophobic gestures, and we should but in terms of actual taking care of their bodies, being focused and not messing about I don't have doubts about anyone in the squad. And frankly, to speculate how Aurier may or may not be to work with is a completely pointless exercise.

All very sensible in a time when you have transfer funds and not many positions or issues to address. Neither of which is a position we find ourselves in.

Interesting that they gave gone from being close to getting Emerson Royal to targeting Aurier.

Would quite like Emerson at Spurs.

No smoke without fire kind of thing?

Funnily enough I'm not desperate for Aurier to leave, I used to be, and I'm not sure how Aarons/Tanganga would work, but I would almost admire the bravery of selling the only recognized RB in the squad (assuming KWP is gone).

The more he's been kept back, the less bothered I've been about him leaving. His failings in attack are quite glaring, but he has been dependable defensively when asked to just stay static (aside from passing it to Ritchie). Truth be told, I actually have more faith in him than Davies.

Davies is a defender nothing more.

Aurier is incredibly inconsistent and with our current reliance on him to provide our width and crosses the amount he wastes is ridiculous.

By selling Aurier it will be mean we will either bring in a more competent attack minded full back or a solid all-rounder. It will also mean we will have to change our tactics and we will likely become a more balanced team as a result.

Aurier is anything but dependable defensively - he gives away silly free kicks time after time - dare II mention his glaring error against Arsenal he let the Sheff Utd player wander past him on his inside just a poor defender with no sense of danger at all -
