Imagine if we’ve just bought Doherty for 12 and we sell them Aurier for 20! ?

Don’t think “club trained quota” exists.

I think that’s purely only in Football Manager.
It very much exists in European competition. FM aims to replicate reality as much as possible - they wouldn't add random made up rules for the hell of it.

I fully expect Serge Aurier to start at right back against Everton. He's a class act ?
He’ll start unless there’s a sale close because Doherty will have only been in training for a few days.

EDIT: Actually, scratch that. Doherty’s here tomorrow. Ireland plays today.

There's a HG rule but even then I don't believe you have to hit the actual number like in FM. I believe essentially you can only register 17 "foreign" non-HG players so it's not really a quota like in the game.

Plus the game actually does add things for the hell of it FYI (like variations of Brexit rules that change game to game).

In fact I just looked it up and was correct.

Here's the UEFA rule:
Who can be on List A?

A maximum of 25 players, two of whom must be goalkeepers. There are a minimum of eight places reserved exclusively for 'locally trained players'. If a club have fewer than eight locally trained players in their squad, then the maximum number of players on List A is reduced accordingly.
via: https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsl...-to-know-champions-league-group-stage-squads/

So it's as I said. You do not have to register 8 HG players nor do you have to register 4 "Locally trained" players. It's only in order to list the maximum squad size of 25 players. Essentially you can list 17 foreign and 8 homegrown but there can be no fewer than 4 locally trained. In the games you absolutely must register those 8 homegrown (4 locally trained) in order to register a squad at all. Whereas in real life you could register 17 foreign and it would be a perfectly legal squad (although not advisable).

My response was due to this:
Yeah - we’d have Kane, Winks, Tanganga plus at least one of Cirkin/White/Whiteman for club-trained quota to be met.
As I've just explained there is no quota that must be met (like there is in the game) so Cirkin or White would be pointless registrations on the A list (also A list and B list are not in the game to my knowledge so those rules are different as well) as they are club trained and under 21 years.

People are under the impression that you must register those 4 locally trained players because the game makes it necessary but that's not the case in real life.

That's not for the hell of it. The brexit thing is just a model based on what might happen post brexit in terms of rules. It's random because no one really knows how it will play out. It's not for the hell of it. On hitting the actual number, on my last FM save I registered only one locally trained player (don't ask why) so you don't need to hit the number exactly.

In any case, the rules are there for everyone to see

In fairness the last game I played was FM 17 but on that one and ones previous you had to register 8 HG (minimum 4 locally trained) or you could not register a team.

Also none of the games had A and B lists either.

Unfortunately they are most likely to give Arsenal a load of money for Bellerin which will allow them to finally buy a top DM in Partey. Lucky *****.

We should offer them Serge at a cheaper price than ballerina to ensure that doesn't happen!

Probably around 25million so about half of the Partey price.

I'm starting to wonder if he might stay now. Jose's comments about only having one right back last season in his press conference today might suggest so.

Nobody seems to want to pay what we are after, there are a lot of games to play and with no other options available with Japhet still out we will need him.

I can definitely see him staying until January.
Presuming Doherty settles in and shows the form he’s had at wolves. Then I think aurier will get the hump playing in Bulgaria and Plymouth and sitting out the premier league games .

unless there is a system Jose beloved where both can play at the same time??‍♂️

"When we bought Matt it was not to sell Serge," Mourinho said. "When we got Matt it was to strengthen the squad and to have more options. And not to be in a very difficult situation like last season where Serge was playing all the time.

"So for me it is not to buy one to sell another one. But of course the market is open and the players have the right to express themselves and to try to be happy and if one day Serge comes to us and a situation that he would prefer I think we would speak with him. Mr Levy would speak with him. But the reason why we got Doherty was to improve the squad and not to sell Serge. If you ask me directly do you want to sell? No I don’t.

"In Serge’s case, he was at PSG and they have an incredible squad and he was there at the same time as some other fantastic players for his position and he coped with it without any problems. So I think Serge is the kind of personality he does not turn his back to a challenge and to have in the same squad and position a player of Doherty quality, I think for Serge will be a challenge to enjoy and for me as a coach would be a privilege situation to have two strong right backs."

I’d rather have 15-20m and his 70k off the books but he’s more than qualified to stick around as a backup RB, especially considering our fixture list and Tanganga’s injury.
